Thumbs up Breaking at schools and partys? - 09-24-2003, 12:52 PM

You kno wat i decided to write about, the fact with break dancing at school and partys is tight as hell but their some things bout it thats a bitch like having to either bust out all power moves to entertain, If breakers would start to showing off more of the basic harder to do stuff instead of all power moves that public think breaking is about we should be breaking showing all the real shit and some power moves, we breakers gota let people kno wats up wit breakin its all about wat u do and how u do not all power moves.

Personally, I think of breaking as an actual dance.....which you can't so much dance with headspins and windmills, y'know? So at parties and stuff, you should stick to some more basic stuff.....until of course someone steps up. Then you gotta show your true power.

Peace.

The thing about powerheads is that they get all the attention during their first combo. If you battle them at a dance, since they can't do nothing but power, the crowd gets bored of it and style will own power. Styling and freezes just kill powerheads imo, plus it's much sicker to watch someone do a nike to a head hollow than someone busting out some flares.

I don't do it at school simply because I'm out of school for like 3 years now. But I noticed few things, different crowd responds differently to footwork, freezes, and power moves. My combo starts with footwork, one freeze and then I go into power moves. I'm trying to get people's attention by doing footwork and freezes and when they clear some space I go into power moves. People will only react "wow" for really fast footwork, not some bullshit slow ass six-step. I saw clips of some of your sixteps on here guys and have to tell you that what I'm doing is totally different. President dude will probably know what I'm talking about since it looks like he's got garcia's vol.1 tape. It's like an advanced 6step and I'm doing it even faster than garcia so imagine. I'll put up a clip on here of my combo as soon as I get my hands on some digital camera.

i think that it all depends on the crowd that is watching coz if its like sum like full popular guys and some hot chicks then u'll probably bust out some crazy moves but if its like newbs who want 2 learn you mite dance more to show them that bboyin isnt just about power

i'll be the first to admit i am a power head
until someone wants a battle- then i have an even mix

i see no prob with it, like i do foot stuff and frezzes but only the harder stuff- like inverts, or sick footwork into flares, coz like i was drawn to breaking coz of power moves...THEN i got into footwork and most people are that way- so with aq public audience i am a powerhead, until a battle coz you have to win the crowd and they go for style when apluading 2 breakers battling

Let's dance you Cockbite
