Angry Walking Turtles - 09-23-2003, 08:37 PM

OK... IN LESS THAN A DAY I DID MY TURTLE FLOAT. I CAN HOLD IT FOR 1 MINUTE. THIS IS QUESTION, I WANT TO WALK MY TURTLE. SHOULD I START FROM A KNEEDED POSTION(HEADS UP AND KNEES BEARLY TOUCHING THE FLOOR)OR SHOULD I START FROM THE FLOATING POSITION. IF SO HOW CAN I KEEP MY BALANCE WITHOUT FALLING FROM MY FLOATING POSITION???

The turtle is all about shifting your weight from one arm to another, which also means balance and proper form. The best way would be starting in the floating position, because you got that down already. When you walk, you have to learn how to shift almost all of your weight on just one arm, as the other arm is used to take that step forward. Like walking, when you take that step, you need to bring one leg up and take that step forward, and do the same with your other leg once the leg you took that step with is down.

So, basically, the weight transfer between each arm is crucial. However in order for your weight transfer to be nice and clean all the way through, you need to get the balance down. Walking is MUCH harder than spinning around, like the actual turtle. Believe me.

turtle is a hard float, if you want to do it fast and good, the first turtle I learned was the backwards turtle, that was easier for me.
But then I broke my arm, and after that I learned the position to hold me in freeze, then backwards, and when you do it backwards, try to turn sometimes, then you dont have to do it backwards anymore, but in my opinion its easier.
