and just for everyone here: Hitting is something you never really learn to "do" - its a constant development. The more you practice, the harder and better and cleaner you will hit. If you stop practising you will not only stop developing but you will drop off.
It is your muscles that give a hard clean hit. Nothing else should move if you really want to BANG. There are other techniques involving slight movements and things which are a different approach, but to really bang, hit them SHORT, SHARP, and HARD. And warm up. sorry for SHOUTING |

Real quick question.
How do you hit your legs if they're already flexed. Example, your in a bent/slightly crouched position. Is it even possible. |

I asked certain ppl that question for ages, and the best answer that i got (since the others were IMO pretty crappy, not naming names)
U cant hit ur leg when it is already flexed, obviously. But u can hit the muscles near the leg, such as around ur hips, as well as chest, arms. It should give u a decent enough hit. and watch my video chippa, damnit!! i need professional help ![]() |

1) you can hit a muscle that is already slightly tensed (or "flexed"), just practise it. Over and over. Find an angle/level with a bent knee bearing weight then try and hit. You will get it eventually. 2) how are your arms and chest near your leg? they couldnt be further.... vinhegar by warm up I mean warm up your muscles as in get them warm. You should be doing this before you dance anyway. It involves exercising them gently and stretching them. |

lol, i always word stuff badly man. I meant, around ur legs such as ur hips (stop), and also hit the arms and chest. thats what i meant.
but then again, i was studying so yeah. And for no 1, u cant hit ur leg when its already flexed, hitting requires the relaxation of the muscles before the contraction, so that the myofibrels (however its spelt), can go back to their natural position before tensing. So for example, if i make my legs do this /\, im already flexing most of the leg, i can try to hit, but i'll get a really really piss-weak leg hit, cos u can probably tense about only 10% of the muscle fibres cos the other 90% is used for the contraction of the muscles already to hold that position. either that or im just extremely weak at leg hitting. |

Maybe I could hit my legs in a bent position by flaring my knees or pivoting... There's an idea.

it's not that you are necessarily weak at leg hitting, its just that you have not worked hard on hitting a bent leg. It feels weak at first, and I'm not saying I can hit all that hard in my legs when they are bent, it is a lot weaker; compared to when i hit them hard with a straight leg. practise hard, you will need to learn to hit the muscles in a slightly different way to achieve the effect. This is all of course subconcious and will become a motor skill in time, at which point someone will ask you "how do you hit a bent leg?" and you will not be able to tell them how. Don't expect to hit it like a hammer though, as you are 90% right about the limits of extension and contraction. |

I generally avoid hitting the legs in any bent position, as im paranoid about screwing my knee, by hyper-extension or any other adverse effects (no idea why, but i am)
i already have broken bits of the joint in my elbow from arm-hitting, so my arm can bend about 185 degrees instead of 180 degrees....very disturbing |
