Guide: Waving Video Guide by Morax - 09-11-2005, 02:49 AM

Hi all,

After my first body wave guide, I had a few requests to make a complete waving tutorial.

So I did. I've included Arm Waves, Body Waves, as well as a section of me freestyle waving at the end (with a little bit of liquid to make the transitions).

I hope some people will get something from it!

Peace

[Note: I uploaded this to Google Video for you. Tane]

Morax my man.......dude you have definately came up a lot since your first vid....and since i have my internet back now, i can crit this....yay....(btw this is all about the freestyle session)....there are only a few things that stood out to me.....aight first thing....you did play with the beat well, which i did like....speed....most if not all of your waves were one speed, but thats easy to work on, plus the song plays a factor.....another thing, try messing with the angles of your waves.....your arm waves went straight out almost everytime...pllay with angles, like shootin them up in the air, behind....just everywhere....your comin along nicely tho......a few things to take into consideration....your using a lot of the basic waves and stuff....and that is totally cool, i do it too.....but try and get lost in them more...let the music dictate on how/where the wave will go and what it will do...theres a lot of concepts taht you can throw into your style that will make you nasty...tunneling, rock waves, ripples(which you did a few kinda), etc....also try playing with size....you know the rules of waving...isolation of one joint in a continuem....you know you cant break the rules, but you can definately bend them....the more and more you play with bending the rules, and making/coming up with new concepts, the better youll get....and another thing(for wavers in general)...."Dont do moves, just move" -funktion.......meaning, a single cool move will last a second, but a concept will take you throughout the entire song....dont think about what yoru gonna do next, just worry about the music and your concepts and youll be fine....morax, man, your doin awesome right now....definately dope.....payce

I am a Waver. This is my manifesto.

Sticky. Most dope guide Morax.

Morax I tried breaking the guide up into attachment chunks with no joy....- feel free to remove the link for now if you feel its necessary.

I will recompress it into 2 10mb vids and putfile it tomorrow.

I'm having trouble transferring it from one arm to the other and then doing the steps in reverse.

You're tutorials are really awesome. Could you possibly make move guides for other things, like hitting etc?

Sorry guys I've been away for a bit with a new job.. Chippa, thanks for the critique, I'm mucking around with a few new ideas to expand on my waving now too

Blackjack and Pill, I had some problems with both of your questions when I was starting out as well.. Like Mogwai said - Practice, practice, practice!! There's no shortcut when it comes to anything popping related (think hitting, even the best poppers STILL practice to hit harder and cleaner).

As for making other guides, I will make some more for different techniques when I believe I am "qualified" to do so.. I don't think I am anywhere near a level with my hitting to be able to make a guide... Could possibly do a gliding one, but there's already a few good ones out there (look around soulseek for guides by Kai and Illdill.. EDIT - Also I just looked at Mogwai's gliding tutorial.. Good stuff also!).
