Basic Bodywave Tutorial - 05-29-2005, 06:55 PM

ok so you've learned an armwave and you've got it down pretty good. well the next step is a basic bodywave. sorry no vids... but jus read closely. this move can be executed with one or 2 arms extended (as of 5-31-05, this tutorial is dedicated to "ChippaStyles")

step 1: visualize what a bodywave is supposed to look like. then see yourself doing a perfect one.

step 2: a basic bodywave is started off the same way as an armwave. The 1st position is done with your arm straight out to the side of your body, i like to have my fingers pointed slightly upward to add a little more affect

step 3: slightly begin to curl your fingers toward your body but keep your arm straight out

step 4: straighten your fingers out, but have them pointing downward toward the ground. keep your arm straight but have your wrist almost pointing away from your body.

step 5: loosen up your wrist and almost let it hang pointing downward but while this is happening, lift your elbow upward

step 6: start moving your elbow down toward your side while lifting up your shoulder.

step 7: this is the start of the body part. now poke your chest out just like in the heartbeat move.

step 8: you want to kinda roll from your chest down to your hips. as your hips are moving forward, slightly stand on your toes.

step 9: when you go onto your toes, you wanna try and put your knees forward if it doesn't happen naturally.

step 10: next you want to put your heels back on the ground. at this point i poke my ass out a little to add more of an affect.

step 11: now we are going to bring the wave back up. this is more of the difficult part. you want to do something with your legs to show the wave is heading back up. try stomping or wiggling your legs back and forth. whatever you do, it must end with you slightly on your toes.

step12: from being slightly on your toes, poke your knees out in front of your body. then try and poke your hips out over your knees w/o losing your balance.

step 13: you want to roll from your hips up to your chest(roll like a belly dancer) then poke your chest out just like in the heartbeat move.

step 14: lift up one or both of your shoulders, while you stop doing the heartbeat move otherwise you look like an idiot.

step 15: from your shoulders, lift up one or both elbows while resting your shoulders, have your wrists and hands loosely pointing at the ground.

step 16: straighten out your arm(s) and have your wrist(s) pointed away from your body.

step 17: have your finger(s) slightly curled and pointed toward your body. then uncurl them.

congrats you've just completed a bodywave now go play sumthin funky and practice it.
