Yeah. if you take the part of my tutorial before i tell you to slide the feet, (jus twisting the feet, and going up on the toes) and do that really smooth, that is a float. Its just like opposite leg motion walking really. see about 46 seconds in
Gliding takes the illusion that your weight is not on the leg that is actually bearing it, and takes it a step further, where you move the other foot flat on the floor, before putting your weight back on it. Call it a travelling float if u like. It is very important to pop your knee straight above the flat foot to complete the illusion for gliding.
Slides, hmm, slides and glides are essentially the same, but with foot/floor contact. Some glides (the backglide) are actually slides (backslide) because 90% of people scrape their feet when they move them. Its personal choice what you do, but most people agree its better to lift the foot a little (glide) rather than take the weight off and slide it against the floor.
It just looks better. You dont have to slide a backslide, if you learn it properly, then it becomes a backglide.
