thats an alright backglide tutorial dude,

just thought id add a bit more detail

General Glide/Moonwalk tips.

1) go onto your tip-toes before dropping onto the ball ofthe foot to accent the glide and make it look better.

2) Try and isolate you upper body from the waist so it looks lke your standing on a conveyor belt, not jerking or moving up and down.

3) your feet should, ideally, be lifted up off the floor about half a centimetre when you glide the flat foot. and keep it flat.

4) ALL of your weight should be on the bent leg until weight transfer

here is my tutorial and a slomo clip of a side glide. note the foot goes right onto the tip of the toe. Im not that great at it but i thought this might help peeps......

there is also also footage of my circleglide and a proper circleglide from the intro to "breakin'", i also slomo'd that 4 ya, so you can see exactly how it should be done.

Now this thread really is a gliding guide.
wish someone had done this when i wanted to learn........

there is a glide called the forward glide.
or you could call it a forward slide.

basically, learn the backslide, and reverse it.

it's the same theory, but instead of sliding your foot back, slide it forwards.

simple? simple.

keep at it, Bugeto!

Bugeto - once you have learnt the sideglide, everything else is gravy - You wont need to learn anything anymore, your legs just glide at will....so you can freestyle adn whatever......

buy the bboy.org dvd zulugremlin's masterclass teaches "walking against the wind....."

you can do all kinds of gliding stuff once you understand.....

I have a secret figure 8 glide im working on too.......

damn - my secret is out!

if you reverse the backglide it looks lame, shoodnt even be called a glide....

forward moonwalk for me would be the on the spot moonwalk but you step forwards each time, instead of the same place.....much more effective

Prowler3: i tend to disagree with your opinion on the "reverse backglide" forward glide looking "lame"... because i do it from time to time, and my pals comment that i look like i'm just sliding to the front, like in a cartoon.

and i was looking for that effect.

maybe it looks "lame" if you were to try to make it look like a slick glide, but i always use it in botting, and it gets a good vibe for me, so i guess it works for me.

it's personal opinion though, i'm not trying to start any beef with you

no probs

Hey bugeto

EVERY glide is slide the heel while standing on the toe.
This is the basis of the illusion.

it helps if you think of the sliding foot as travel. never travel unless your other foot is on the toe. That sentence is enough to learn to glide from.

If you really want - buy the DVD and zulugremlin will tell you exactly the same thing (in a roundabout way) in the masterclass. That also covers walking against the wind etc, as i said b4. He does his sideglide different to me, but the same in a crazy, semantic kind of a way.

learn these two glides first (with the tutorials above) - i PROMISE you once you have learnt these two - the whole principle will just click in your mind and you wont need to ask anymore questions from muppets like me.

well, some people slide on their heel, and some people slide with a flat foot....it may be a tiny difference so just experiment and find which feels and looks better
