How essential are 'gymnastics'-type moves to locking? - 01-06-2007, 05:09 PM

e.g. all the tumbling moves that Greg Campbellock Jr used to do?

Would you say they were an intergral part of locking or that they are 'tricks' that supplement the core foundation moves?

any flips and tumbling and "tricks" are a must when locking but you MUST do them within the context of locking. what i mean is locking comes first, if you watch greg he did all those moves but still remained locking in his solos. Once a person starts focusing too much on the tricks, they lose focus of the locking aspect
there has to be a balance between the two

thanks - that makes a lot of sense!

how do lockers overcome the fear of jumping and landing on their front or their arse?

practice, like anything i suppose, perhaps practice on mats or something soft so you can get the feel for the move
