Treat locking as if you were learning to dance all over again.

Right now I would just stay with just three moves -- the up/blast/strongman/whatever, the LOCK, and points. You must learn to integrate the up and the lock as one move... because in reality, that's all it is. Haha.

Straighten your lines out when you point... your arm should be damn close to straight (don't hyperextend your elbow!!!).

Lose the popping rhythm! Locking has a completely different look and feel to it.

etc etc. If you have more questions, lemme know.

Wave's comment about connecting the uplock with the lock is pretty accurate, particularly for old-school locking. A lot of lockers use that combination to fire off other combos or to prep for a power move.

My personal advice would be to understand the timing of locking. For example, you should be setting off your locks on the even beats, but using a less-emphasized/prepping move on the odds (hence the up-to-lock combo). Also understand single-time vs double-time - a lot of lockers think that because they're locking fast and they're double-timing. The reality is that they're probably playing a song with a fast tempo. Double-time is a LOT faster than what people believe. Hell, it's my timing of choice even I can't do it right 90% of the time.
