new to locking. please help

hey guys. im a bboy who really really wants to learn how to lock. i find it very cool. hahaha. i get the gist of it. but some moves i cant do like scooby doo or stop n go. i really wanna learn how to do them. can anyone at all teach me? thanks a lot in advance

ps: anyone got tips for this n00b locker? (me)

Learn locking the same way you (should've) learned to bboy - outside experience. Unless you live near prominent lockers or an area big in funk styles (LA, Detroit, NYC), then the best way to learn is the experience you'll pick up as you go out.

A good movie for starters though, is Breakin' and Breakin' 2. Good luck

oh man. im in australia. perth for exact. there r no lockers around. there is one but hes in japan rite now. not coming back till like june. i dont wanna wait that long. oh iv watched breakin'. was Ozone locking with the kids?

That was Turbo, better known by his street name "Boogaloo Shrimp". He's thrown a few intervals of locking while he dances, but is primarily a popper. Ozone was "Shabba-Doo", the better locker of the two who dressed flamboyantly. If you're familar with funk history, that was a time when it was hot for men to dress like a b*tch. Think Prince.

My next suggestion to you would be to seek out any lockers among the bboy crowd. You may be surprised at how many practice more than one dance style. Most bboys tend to sub in popping when they aren't on the floor, but you'll find a diamond in the rough now and then. Good hunting.

Correct me if im wrong but Benni Benz from Germany in Perth locks... and also Phil. I forget their crews name, it was along time ago but I remember them being pretty good at funkstylez. I dont even know if they are still in Perth. Oh yeah they were called Systematic Crew back then (1999), long time ago...

yeh. benni benz locks. he lockes well too. i haven't really got a chance to meet him. i dont know who phil is. but yeah. i need to meet up with him or something. he never actually comes to bboy jams as often now. so its kinda hard to hook up with him. ergh

Man and in Perth you lot got the 8 step rockers! ask one of them also! Ok im get onto it, btw the moves wont be performed at their best soz bout that coz i got a broken thumb, and a big ass cast!
