I don't like that girl's timing and execution at all. Seems kinda limp. She's definitely carrying funk though.

Lol, I thought she was good, but admittedly I have seen better chick lockers.

But as inspiration for more people to get into the art I think a certain one person said it well..."The future's bright."

Nah, it's actually the first four letters of my real name, so peeps just call me Rath for kicks. I'm not exactly complaining, it's pretty fly

The thing with chick dancers is that sometimes they just don't have that testosterone which drives most male dancers. Of course having said that, there are Korean female lockers...

I don't know if it's just around here, but that aggressive mentality is really scarce among chicks. I've seen a few, and when you look at them you can't help but be in awe...but it's so rare =p

Something that a choreographer once told me (he choreographs "hip hop") was that he would get the same aggression-lacking dancers performing his routines sloppily and without much energy. Instead of getting frustrated and trying to simplify the routine, he instead said the words "...the essence of dancing, is to be a bitch."

I'll tell you...the change was so sudden, I didn't think I was looking at the same girls anymore. Their dancing picked up energy tenfold and they had the facial expressions going like they really meant what they were expressing.

Maybe it's all about that missing 'bitch' factor =)

i dont know, the aggressive side to locking in my opinion would retract from her dancing
to be skilled at locking doesnt necessarily mean you have to be angry, ive seen enough dancers do that and it just makes their locking look worse
afterall
locking is a party dance...
its more a result of the skill level of the dance and their understanding of the dance

Point taken, I keep forgetting the nature of Locking compared to a lot of other styles.

Not really. You can apply the same mentality to anything and be perfectly fine. Ever watch Boppin' Dre? He doesn't EVER seem to be angry but the guy straight kills it every time...

Personally, I think what Scrambelock said makes more sense. In the end it does come down to the nature of the dance-style in the first place, and with the whole Boppin' Dre thing...in my opinion Popping is not an "aggressive" style by its nature anyway. I've only been popping for a few months now, but I believe the nature of Popping is to be more "detached" and illusionary.

The aggressive factor plays a much larger role with styles like Bboying (mostly powermoves/footwork), Tango, Hip Pop, Krumping, Rumba, etc. Note I don't mention "anger" at all...this is because I think anger and aggression are two very different things. For the styles I mentioned, aggression will do a much better job than being angry will =P
