locking is a separate dance from popping and should be thought of separately from popping...there are a bunch of poppers who do know how to lock...(salah, jazzy j, disco dave, poppin pete, skeeter rabbit, even boogaloo sam as stated above!)....so it would be good to have a separate room for it

What's up Scramblelock,

I would like to talk to you regarding your group. You could send me a private message on this forum.

I agree with Scramblelock, I feel that locking and Popping are different dances.
Yes, the funk styles label is including locking. I just feel that it make it more confusing. Because for years lockers didn't liked the label poplock or popnlock.
Now funk styles is including locking and make people think they could mix locking with popping. If we are going to have locking on this forum we should at least know it is two different dances.

^^Lol. If only I could lock WITHOUT mixing popping...Haha. I don't even do it intentionally...I do like, 4 locks, and start hitting. Hahaha....pathetic.

I'll see what I can do about the locking subforum.

Check out my first audio freestyle, and second audio.... Drop some feed, I'm still learnin'!

I dont think popping and locking are that similar, I think they are two totally differents styles. A different subforum forlocking would be awesome, it would definately spread the knowledge of locking to more members, because I know many people dont know what locking is.

MOwicz, I know exactly what you are talking about, lmao. I practice locking, and then go into a full body wave with hits, it really sucks.

Edit: By the way, does anyone know what those Painter-like hats are called?

the painter hats are known as apple hats or apple boy hats

the bigger the better...some of the original lockers had crazy apple hats some with giant pompoms on the top!
if you go to the lockerlegends website the main page has campbellock jr and flukey luke wearing them...although i believe those were called pizza hats

i think it's good that they changed it to funk style forum because that is alot more general and includes other styles like boogaloo, tuts and and stuff like that as well as popping and locking. in my opinion though i think that locking is the funkiest style of all of them. u really have to be able to move to the beat and show alot of character to make it look really good. Having a seperate forum for just locking would be good though because it is a style like no other.

the funk styles umbrella is mainly for the styles that would usually go under the umbrella of Popping, Locking is not one of those, it has a completely different history then the popping stuff, hence it shouldn't be called a funk style.

Bboying is what you make it.

I agree, Locking should not be under the funk style label. Some people will start thinking it cool to mix locking with all the other funk styles names.

This is why I'm staying with calling it Popping and Locking. It's what I used since 1979 and I'm going to keep using it.
To me it's more clear and more understanding.

I was wondering, how do you do that knee thing, where you fall on your knees and get back up and repeat, without hurting yourself?

Space Capital- I got Wiggles Session 3, and on it when he is practicing ticking, he is doing Tick Locking for a short part of it.

Bboying is what you make it.

AL-ROCK aka The Fonz is back! - 08-15-2005, 09:58 AM

Was'up people sorry i havent been here in a while, but the kids back and better than ever lol! I now finally have my own character! Eg the funny faces the moves combos etc, and the best thing is i dont mean to but when i lock the faces come Naturally! I reckon once that happens you can call yourself a, well i dont wanna say real locker, but i dunno a locker thats one level above the rest that dont have a character.

Neway a few people were asking about the skeeter Rabbit, since i have to upload on my comp 56k I will do individual parts and moves, i suppose i can do one for the Skeeter Rabbit (the basic version) in stages. Soon come people!

And secondly the people that asked about the dropping on knees thing, all i can say is:
1) Dont do it lol! (without knee pads)
2) Drop on ya knees, but with less force and as your knees hit (moderately softly) bring your body down next so it gives the impression that u dropped hard but really u dont. CONFUSING HUH dont worry ima do a lil clip for yall! haha!

Neway im outta here,

Also can sumone teach me sum tutting plz!
Peace.Fonz.
