AH! So close! -
08-18-2006, 08:18 PM
I have been doing kip-ups for like 3 days now and have done it twice, once at my karate studio on a mat and once at a friends house on carpet. I am so close to getting it at home (on carpet), but I feel like I need to do one thing differently in order to get it down for good. Sorry no vid, but any ideas?

Strengthen up your legs, quadriceps is what kip ups use. At least that's what hurts the most after I do them. Shoes help a lot and when I do kip ups bare foot it seems harder.

I don't think strengthening legs is that much of a problem, unless you've got noodle legs. Which i doubt.
when you go back, put your whole body on the top part of your back, put your hands backwards and touch the floor, when you kip throw your arms forward hard. I can do kip ups without arm swing, but it helps a lot when you swing your arms. |
