Can't gets off the damn ground - 10-15-2004, 12:54 PM

Subject says it all.

I've read pretty much every guide on the boards and tried every thing they said and still can't get my upper body off the damn ground.

What the hell gives?

Remember to push with your hands and thrust your body upward at the same time. This has to be done right before your legs become perpendicular to the floor. If you push off too late, you would have too much forward force and not enough upward force. If you push off too early, you would have too much upward force and stall in the middle of the kip up.

Hope this helps.

I tired it on my bed. i got it in a day, but i was lucky. the thing is, you gotta make sure you do three things correctley. kick w/ your legs, push with your hands as you crunch. try to kick at the 70 degree and push with your hands while bending your legs. a no handed kip up (kick up) is almost as easy. just throw back your heaqd (using your neck) as a replacement for your hands. make sure you have good kicking power or you run the risk of landing on your neck and messing it up.

Peace out

nah you should try on the bed for a first time to get the shape and the feeling of it. howevr if you want to get the hang of it on the floor, your gonna have to practice on the floor. so practice on the bed to get shape and practice on the ground to get the hang of it.

Omg, SCREW THE BED. It is just gonna be harder to get kip ups on beds. If you want, grass is better. But try it on different surfaces. Alright, the reason you ain't getting off he ground is... You ain't kicking properly. If im right you're kicking horizatally. If you wanna get up, you must kik up. Not directly up, or you wont be able to land on your feet. Kick diagnoly up, and swing your legs down to the ground so your feet can land. Like curl them in. A kip up is fast, and the only way to get it is by experimenting. AND practice. THis goes to all the other moves. Hope that helped.

buddy, i got a kip up on my first day using the bed, it is extremley fluent now and i can do it lightning-fast.

use a bed, because thats what i said.

lol, you need the bed to get the hieght advantage, or it will be harder to get the flow of the actions down. if you learn on the ground and dont get much height, you wont be able to get the actions down as well and you kip up will run the risk of looking like a sloppy spasm

Moves:
coffee grinder (4 swipes)
kip up
no handed kip up
handstand
Top Rock
Six Step

Trying: Mills, 4, 12 step.

i hate u......maybe its my timing and technique that sucks, what am i saying, of course it is

u have push when ur legs extend all the way right? and then bring em inwards too eh?

btw, u push away not up with ur arms right? because my prob. is im not getting my upper body forward and i end up landing on my shoulder blades
