how to kip ups - 06-22-2004, 10:31 PM

This is when you are lying on your back, then you KICK UP and you land back on your feet.

This is start position:
legs as close to your face as possible, arms OVER your shoulders touching the ground (very hard to explain if you haven't seen a person do one, watch Jackie Chan).

Now throw your legs HIGH as they can go, This should lift your hips as well. Now PUSH HARD with your arms, lifting your upper body.

TAKES PRACTICE!! took my about 4 months to get kip ups down. Later you can use the back of your head instead of hands. Then no hands at all.

If you wanna add style, while kicking your legs, make it look like your riding a bicycle with your legs. Or one legged kip ups. Then kip up-suicide-kip up-suicide.

You should push and kick up at the same time
It took me 2 weeks to learn
(I practiced a lot)

I learned kip-ups way before I started to break, maybe when I was 10 or 11 years old. (I'm 17 now, btw) I started off on a trampoline just to get the idea of it, and then worked on it off the ground. I got those down, and just got rubberbands the other night when I tried em.

*To anyone thinking of rubberbands.
1) Don't try on barely carpeted cement floors.
2) Helps to have a folded blanket underneath your head to start, that way when you suicide, you can do it without so much worry.
3) Jump back enough so you land -high- on your back, if you land on your ribcage, it'll suck a lot. Use your hands on your landing.

Kik ups should only take you about 3 days or so. Try it on grass if you want. Don't do it on beds, it's gonna be harder.

Do it on any kind of surface. To prevent winding, as your feet touches the ground, you can jump backwards if you're losing balance and slide back. Won't hurt at all.
