Well just adding on to the argument of Phirak and you other peeps, I think your theories a lil off.

I mean I thought breaking was gay at first when I saw it, because I didnt respect style or the culture at all. Then like 2 years later one of my freinds freinds were breakin and I looked at it, and I really liked it. I didnt think "oh shit i wanna learn that so I can get some pussy." Bullshit, I play basketball and that can get me more than enough.

But anyways I decided to learn a bit from my freinds but he had job core so he was never there, and he was a bad teacher. I cant just start from scratch...just like i cant just watch basketball and know all the rules and skills just by trying them, because I could be doing something wrong.

Therefore I found a little group that practiced in this small studio of about 6 people. They werent very good, but they knew the basics. Anyways I stayed with them for a few months and learned basics, sexi step, etc. and didnt practice that much but thought it was very cool.

Then I moved to a different state, and I became more dedicated because I knwe i could break. So for the past 2 months ive been working my ass of with handstand moves, etc. and makes more progress ive ever made. i do it every day, and I never show off at my school or as a materr of fact, mention it unless someone asks. I do it because its fun and hope to get in a good crew someday soon in my town and just bboy.

I could care less if it brought me attention...thats what other sports are for...bball, football, etc. you see?

Life if Rhythm, and Rhythm Is life

Your pain runs deep, share it with me.

im down with that Bboy dont need ! a fucking school!!
Bboying is popular.. i see it on TV all the time ...movies,music video and stuff..
what will happen with a school is that everyone will start with it and sudentlig veryone can do windmills and stuff... the real Bboys/Bgirls that have realy been working and sweating would mean nothing ..
but a studio where you can learn from others learn how to make moves look better isnt bad!.. i dance with my friends and we share everything we know ..every thing we have learn and stuff... i have inspiered many people with my dance ..even everything everyone whant to know is how to do..headspins/flare/windmill/airflare..
i started that way.. but then i got hung up with the Bboy history and stuff have sees Bboying from a new point of view..

lol bboying school is just another source of income for some ppl, but culture wise it doesn't really do bboying that much good

ppl r just gonna end up coming out of that school with the same styles and same kinda moves

bboying eventually gonna turn into gymnastics, and judged technically based purely on form and "correctness" of everything

bboy hyper - since jan 2006

its not a sch sheesh...its just a studio ....i go there btw n well it works for me cos well not many ppl in my neighrbourhood breaks so ya at least i get proper guidance....n when he said u could injure urself watching a vid,he meant some dumb noobs trying to pull of a powermove without even understanding the basics(for exp)...dont need to get all angry n uptight abt it..

I go to a place, I don't see it as a school, but a place with wooden floor, AC, Speakers, Mats, mirrors, and a proffessional BBOY, although i pay for it...and if you think it's all tidy and formalized like school, u're wrong..guests come in, other crews come in to battle, we have competitions...and NO, not "all ppl r just gonna end up coming out of that school with the same styles and same kinda moves" coz, once u learn the correct technique, u can't and won't do it like the teacher did it, beacuse it's your style...every one has his style of doing the windmill although it's the same technique....ppl there are not gonna be clone bboys, nor clowns with stupid gymnastics...beacuse if u don't have the "passion" for bboying, you can't just keep on practicin, and breaking ur bones, that's why a "BREAKDANCER" with no passion at all can never learn airflares or halos or munchmills...so he quits this "school"...
Like Bgirl-kimsng said, not everybody can go out at a park or someplace in his neighbourhood and find bboys/bgirls..

I can understand where both sides are coming from! In one had you have the opinion of other bboys/bgirls being able to copy a style from someone else instead of being original. Then having break become so comercialized that it gets to become over populated and thats where the polytics come in. Where as the bboys/bgirls that have been doing this for so long get no kinda recognition. Especially the ones from back in the dayz that made it what it is today!

Then on the other hand, you have bboys/bgirls who are starting out and really dont have the resources to go out and practice, or have a place to practice where someone can explain to them in detail what they are doing wrong like myself for instance. I feel that no matter what you have to do to learn and develop your skillz and stylez, then just do it! Especially if you have the passion for it, hey no pain, no gain! It doesn't matter if it is at a so called "school" or a studio, or even at home. Shit I work in Downtown Miami and I practice over at bayside by myself on this stage they have there that is hardly ever in use! Its's ironic becuz my name is Tina and the stage name is Tina stage Hill! I just bought the video breakdance step by step to help with a better visiual explanation of some moves becuz the "professional bboy is the teacher" like 3boy stated, so I do realize that no matter what, I still have to learn from someone else!

I apply wat I learn and I just do my thing at practice! Doesnt matter where or who is around or where i have to practice! Just learn what you need and apply yourself to the dance! Your way to express yourself once you learn what you need from someone else!

OMG I GOT IT!
it'd be hella awesome if bboying became an actual sport w/ judges on "correctness" and stuff
here's why:

WE CAN SAY WE'RE BETTER THAN THOSE PEOPLE YOU SEE ON TV. we'll be like "sure he can do that ish, but he can't dance.... i can do that too, it's not even that hard..." etc. etc.
and judges say something and you can be like "wtf judge are you stoned or somethin, your legs in hollow inverts CAN EITHER BE CROSSED OR STRAIGHT, IT DOESNT MATTER YOU DIP****" and stuff

man, that'd be fun

this is good, this is good.. though there's lots of this kind of schools back in tha philippines.. not really school though but it teaches breakdancin' from tha basics up to tha best part of it, though some people may not appreciate tha way it should be if they're just doin' it to show off (i agree with vice).

hold up, isnt there any schools or any workshops here at tha states for bboyin'? that's ok right? i think you could just do it at your basement or your livin' room if ever you need to learn it.. it's tha love for it that would make it happen..

peace..

mann some of the stuff people said in this thread is pretty dumb. like bboying should remain underground. and boty is too commercial. those are stupid statements. they just want no one to know about breakdancing or somethin?and all the people that said all that crap probably all want to make it to BOTY someday and make it big with bboying.

I think they got it mixed up with the coffee grinder? btw, Haarlem representing, I used to live there, in Aerdenhout.
