You said: [I stopped reading the article after it was stated that James Brown basically invented breakdancing. This could be considered a highly controversial, much-debated topic. I rather choose to believe that breakin came from Capoeira, the Brazilian martial art, of course.]
I think you are contradicting yourself. You say that the fact James Brown invented Bboying is a highly controversial and debateable topic yet you take a strong stance suggesting that it is just capoeira that breakin was developed through. I think you need to take another look at the facts of bboying history and realise that the first stages of bboying did not consist of such acrobatic power moves as are similar in capoeira. Bboying was merely footwork. Bboying developed as new moves were introduced including influences from many different dance forms: capoeira, jazz, salsa, and many more. I think you are very wrong to "suggest" that breaking comes from Capoeira. Breaking was developed through many styles of movement, and it is still developing. You may still be right that a statement like "James Brown was the sole inventor of the breaking dance form," is highly controversial, and I think it is, but nevertheless James Brown was a significant person in bboying history, and there are many other factors included in his influence, as is for the rest of history. BBoying did not just come from good foot. What about lindy hopping and all the rest i cant think of. But i do have to say that Menace forgot a key factor. BBOying started with only what we call now style moves. Bboying was not made up of power it was made up of style moves. Later they started to include gymnastics, Capoeria, martial arts, god knows where else but yeah that history conclusion was not to accurate only including goot foot sorry.

That was some good information and glad to know that maybe James Brown wasn't fully the creator of bboying. Who knows. Well, I'm glad I read that learned a bit more.

Wasn't Afrika Bambaataa born in 1957?
that means when he was 12 he was already a figure head givin advice? ya some facts are debatable, probably cuz of the fact i base my bboy history on "the freshest kids," and "Planet b-boy." but the paper is still an inspiring piece. props |

Look bboy is an element of Hip Hop and it started in NYC late 70's...yes the dance is influenced by many dances and cultures but breakdancing evolved from bboying or you could say its the same thing.....James Brown had nothing to do with it ..thats for sure....look up the legendary rock steady crew......i didnt read bout this shii...i lived it..saw the battle in the sts. and if it werent for latins this would have never happened..and im sayin this cuz ppl want to blind the fact that we startrd the dance as an element of hip hop..ppl not rap get it right..
