My workout-any tips? - 04-27-2004, 07:44 PM

Here's my workout that I do daily:

75 push-ups(5 sets of 15)
75 sit-ups (or crunches, i don't even kno)(5 sets of 15)
25 triangle push- ups (5 sets of 5)
50 elevated push-up (5 sets of 10)
25 atomic sit-ups (5 sets of 5)
run a mile
jumproping
oh ya and i do curls with dumbells and stuff like that
and as soon as i get a weight set i'm gona start benching
and as soon as i get a pull-up bar i plan to do pull-ups 2

question1: is benching and stuff like that really gona make you short when you grow up?

question 2: what is the difference between a crunch and sit-up?

Benching does not make u short...steroids does, dont do em they make other things small too.

Sit ups dont really work, in my opinion. Crunches work all of your abs muscles, you flex your abs to raise your back off the ground. when you get a weight bench get one with a lat bar. Face away from the bar and crip towards the center with your palms facing behind you. Pull the bar to the back of your neck and use your abs to pull your back down. Do 5x25. Youll see progress in a month.

My name is Mud, but call me allowishousaberdobberjabbermosser thats long for Mud, so I been told.

thx but what's the difference between a crunch and a sit-up?
and how do u do each?
cuz i kno i typed sit-ups but i'm not rly sure. see i sit on my butt with my legs bent at 90degrees. I cross my arms and i pull my upper body up so my elbows touch my thighs. that's a crunch right?

Yeah thata a crunch. A sit-up u would come all the way up 2 your knees, they dont do much for you though, its more aerobic than anaerobic.

A crunch can be defined as primarily using your abs to pull your shoulders off of the ground, and "crunching" the front of your shoulders to your knees without going all the way. These are good for ab endurance.

A sit-up is going the full range of motion, from flat on your back, to sitting straight up touching your knees. These are good for "defining" and "building" the abs, in a physique type of way, not strength or ability type of way.

Benching will not stunt your growth, it has no correlation with height. However, if you overtrain with benching and don't train enough of your back and shoulders, you may become over-dominant in the chest and be out of proportion. This will not only look funny, but it hinders your ability.

If you have access to a gym, and would be willing to use it, I'd highly recommend squatting. It is a killer leg workout, but it also uses your cardiovascular system. Talk about intense leg power.

Yes, you can squat at home with a little modification. Check out the following link, and try using some weight on your shoulders. Start out light, and you aren't going to want to go heavy unless you have a lifting belt -- otherwise you might injure your lower back.

www.abcbodybuilding.com --- then at the top, highlight exercises, then leg exercises, and then find the link titled "Squat"

Hold the dumbells at your side, as you squat bring the dumbells foreward up to your shoulders and push them straight up. When you stand up bring them back down in reverse. This will also work your biceps, shoulders, and deltoids.

lol u said da same thing in deal1's "my workout-it werx thread".but holy crap i thot i was slow....no offense. push ups r when u face the ground and use ur hands to push u up and down. bench press r wen u lay on a flat bench and hold a barbell with weights on it and u raise it up and down. dumbells r just a workout equipment, it looks like a short rod with circular weights attached to the side. i kno i'm doin a pretty crappy job a explaining it so if u want u can go the http://bodybuilding.com it's a awesome site and it will answer every question u have. there's just countless exercises and it will take far too long to explain.

have fun
