diet tips - 04-28-2004, 12:13 PM

You need about 5-7 small meals a day. The aim is to keep your body full with food but not stuffed or feeling heavy. Read up on some diet books and look about or natter to the girls - they're all walking bibles nowadays for healthy eating - no chick in the world wants a flabby ass!!

heres some of my notes/resolutions I made at xmas:

first and foremost - WATER!! lots of it - drink your 8glasses a day. It flushes your body out and helps the areas where your body stores fat to get rid of it more efficiently. Its good stuff and actually quite tasty after a while!!!

I've completely cut out red meat and swine and replaced it with white meat/fish.
whitefish/cod/tuna etc are packed with protein for muscle building - handy if your gonna practise handstands for an hour or hit the weights heavy. Try to get that protein in yer body very shortly after the workout - your body wants that protein asap to start repairing the ripped muscle fibres.
You might miss that bacon n sausage sarnie at first, but you certainly wont once you eat one after not having had one for 4weeks - man - you'll feel like a lead balloon and grotty for another two days!!

Add a good breakfast - cereal is the ONLY way to go. Lose the sugar off it and add fruit - bran flakes with a nana or sliced apple and some raisin n sultanas. Its all slow release energy food. If you find yourself getting hungry through the day too you'll find that you'll be okay grabbing a second bowl at about 4o'clock

Get salad down you on a daily basis. I scoff half a lettuce, tomatoes, mushrooms, chopped carrot with a spot of dressing, salt n pepper. I hated it to start with - now I find my body feels completely dehydrated if I haven't had it that day!! Lettuce is packed with vitamins and full of fluids all good for your body. I'll also steam some broccoli or other equally crunchy veg and eat that.

Pasta, rice, lentils, etc - full of energy and bugger all fat. Try n avoid the creamy sauces - carbonara

Cut down on tea and coffee if you drink it. I used to put over a dozen cups of tea/coffee away a day each with one/two sugars in it. For a quick example - take a glass and put 24spoonfuls of sugar in it... I soon found out where the lbs were comin from!!! I've replaced with water. Fruit juices n sugary/fizzy drinks too - they're filled with sugar. If you want a good OJ - squeeze one - that'll make your lips purse haha!

Basically you need to get your five fruit/veg down you (any combination) and those 8glasses of water (on its own - not with half a gallon of cordial - that shits just syrup!!). A good diet combined with regular exercise (if yer practising owt off this site you'll certainly be exercising haha) will make you shed the lbs but I'd say its definitely 80% diet - 20% exercise!
At xmas I were 17st5lbs or something. I've dropped to 16st2lbs and its all off my gut. My shoulder strength has gone ballistic and I'm benchpressing my sister and her friends bodyweight now haha!

hope this helps - giz a shout if your still stuck but I'm sure there'll be heaps more on here willing to offer help

ha! another post under my belt!

@ anthonymcgrath: Good tips. Took the words right off my mouth. lol I almost everything you suggested already, except the pasta bit. Btw, tea's okay, as long as you don't add sugar. In fact tea, especially green tea from Japan and "Pu Er Cha" from China are fat flushing tea. Tea's good for your health.

Thanks Anna. I added pasta in there purely as a good source of energy rather than something that would help you lose weight but as long as its burned off with exercise then yer laffin really. Certainly a site better than chips anyways!

Hey I had no idea green tea burned fat though Anna - can you elaborate on that in any way or does it basically do exactly that!! I've been drinking green tea regularly for years too so I'm really quite chuffed!!!
