Operation: utter weakling - 04-14-2004, 01:47 PM

OK, i cannot stress how goddamn weak I am. I'm 15 years old, so being a 6 stone (this is 84 pounds) lump of nothing aint good. My thigh muscles are in good shape, but everything else is terrible. My right arm is stick-like and i can nearly fit my hand round it. My left arm I can fit my hand around. I can only manage about 2 diamond press-ups at a time... so I am in the shit, put bluntly. There are a few questions...

should i do regular pushups (which I still struggle at) or should i go straight on to diamonds?
How can I warm up quietly (no bangin pissin off people downstairs and i cant go runnin, rough hood)?
how many/how long of what kind of exercise should i do each day? i.e. X amount of push-ups, Y amount of sit ups.
How long, if i keep this up, will it take for me to reach required strength? I pretty much have no fat at all, im a skinny little prick so it might not take as long as you'ld think, but still long.

It seems all I'm doing is annoying people with endless questions in these forums, so apologies. If ya need it, i can find a picture of my scrawny ass. It only has my upper body though

edit: oh, anyone needs to contact me, msn or email me at Forensyx@hotmail.com or my AIM is forensyx

2nd edit: I read the sticky thread, and i don't quite get what crunches are. Apparently they are better than sit-ups so I would like to know.

3rd edit: This is how skinny i am. check the arm

i'm pretty strong for my body weight though i look really skinny. i am 5'8" and weigh about 120 so weight really means nothing if you have enough strength to lift your body. remember, the heavier you are the more weight you will have to eventually lift or sustain when you try to get moves that require more strength such as planches.

regular pushups -- these work mainly triceps and shoulders and a little part of your back
diamonds -- these work you CHEST, triceps and shoulders and back however they are a bit more difficult

to get your tricep strength up to par i would recommend starting out with regular pushups to increase your strength. once you do that then just start working diamonds as your main set of pushups.

warmup should always include at least 10-15 minutes if not more of stretching. this is essential so that you won't injure yourself by pulling a muscle or when you may accidentally overextend your wrist so it starts to hurt. if you cant go running any you may just want to stretch, run up and down the stairs a few times to get your blood flowing and then do a few pushups, situps, squats, etc to warmup your muscles.

for conditioning you just want to do as many pushups and situps as you can. once you get tired keep going because that's the time when you are going to strengthen the muscle. there is no really set amount you should do because everyone is on different levels and/or gains strength more quickly than others. thats why it will depend mainly on your genetics for how long it will take you to gain enough strength from conditioning (if you tired yourself out that is).

basically crunches are half situps where you bring your chin and head to your chest which squeezes your upper abdomin. crunches put less strain your back than situps but situps work all of the abdominal muscles.

Hey bro, there r a couple o thingz u gotta do to get into shape.
It'll take 1-2 months 2 get u into high gear.

Start with Pushups- Excellent 4 da chest and tricepz. Now, say u can do only 3 pushups now (im just taking an example). Then, u wanna get down on the floor and do 5.
-Until u collapse. Thats how pushupz should be done. IF YOU TAKE BREAKS IT'LL TAKE MUCH LONGER TO BUILD URSELF. Now, when u can do 15 to 20 pushups. (After about a week) Find a bar and start doing pullups. If u cant even do one, practice holding urself for 10 (or later 20) seconds at a time. Do this 2 or 3 times a day and u'll be able 2 do pullups. Dont stop doing pushups though. By the end of the month u should be capable ov 40 pushupez! But thats not all. (And 10 pullups)
What i told ya now wuz just ur upper arm and chest. Time 2 work on your forearm. GO 2 A SPORTS STORE AND GET A FUNNY ROUND RUBBER TING WHICH IS DIFFICULT 2 SQUEEZE AND IS SHAPED LIKE A DOUGHNUT. or a round metal thing wit 2 handles. (Wrist Gripper) Theese things improve grip. If u do 25 at a time- 100 every day for the first week, 200 for the second, 500 for the third and fourth, and 700 (resting between every 100) the next month, u'll b super strong!
Next abs. Do as many as u can every day. dont stop! thats all. I dont think u need neck exercises until u do halo's headspinz, etc... Run 2 build ur legz. When u do pushups, do them *slowly and steadily* VERY IMPORTANT!!!!!!
1.5 months. to go, AND DONT MISS A DAY- Theres no room 4 laziness. My last sentence was probably the most important- Push urself.....
Peace- Mail and temme about progress

Peace

thanks both of you, I might turn this thread into a video diary of my wack ass tryin to get in shape. If only my webcam would WORK.... brand new and dont work. Anywhooooo, time to get to work.

Edit: dont buy a labtec webcam, they friggin suck. Now mum aint got a receipt.

What's the difference between a labtev webcam and a bucket of shit?

the bucket

2nd edit: o...k, i got it workin. it didnt occur to me that video diaries have audio 'duh', so i guess i got the webcam for people to see how weak i am etc. and see how many push-ups i can do etc. In fact, i'll make my 'day one' vid now.

3rd: actually, i wont. my room aint got the space to get a good view, and the colour and light suck at night. I'll use edits to keep ya posted.
