before you practice, put your hands on both knees and apply pressure to the kneecaps while you bend them , so that your hands are resisting the movement of your knees
now circle your knees like that - pressing them in to your hands and pressing your hands in to them - that'll help to warm up the ligaments
you have a lotof muscles in yoru thighs and also in your calf , but around th eknees it's mainly ligaments- these are different than muscles and not as reslilient, so you want to take care of them. you CAN develop flexibility in your knees but it's not an overnight thing and pushing it can really fuck you up . YOU might want to consider getting a cloth brace from a pharmacy and using that for a while just for extra support
also try stretches where you've got one leg out in front of you ( sitting ) and the other one bent behind you , that's good for working out the ligaments
