The Requirement/Optional Thread. Check it Out -

This thread is kinda for stretches, warmups and increasing strenght. It's not exactly required but i think it will help us improve our bboyin' skills. Correct me on some if im wrong.
Lifting Weights - 30 lbs. or more, at least 20 times a day. More arm strength can help support your arm for moves like flares, arm freezes and other moves.
Pull-Ups - I like this one. It helps increase abs strength, arm strength and wrist strength. I'm not sure about what abs can help you with, but for wrist strength, it can help you with a lot of moves like turtle, handglides, jackhammers, airflares and all the other cool moves. Do as much pull-ups as you can. It also stretches your arms.
Milk - This is also good too. Drink a lot of milk, get stronger bones. Stronger bones means you get less chance of injury and pain (faster healing process too). Less chance of injury and pain means more practice. More practice means more improvement at bboyin'. Drink at least 7 cups a day.
Biking - If you bike a lot (10 mi) a day or do them leg weights stuff, it increases leg strength, meaning you can jump higher. It helps doing front flips, back flips, aerials, butterfly twist and all the other jumping moves.
Running/Jogging - I'm not so sure but if you run or jog at least 2 mi a day everyday, you can build up your stamina and endurance. You can last longer if your practicing bboyin' moves non-stop. I think it would also help increase momentum on some running moves like gainer.
Balance 1 (handstand) - Keep doing handstand. 50 times a day until you can hold for at least 15 seconds. Make sure it ain't luck so attempt it at least 3 times and try to get it 15 seconds each. When you get this down, work on 1-handed handstand. Keep doing that 50 times a day so you can get it in your system. Helps with moves like 90s, 2000s, L-Kicks and other handstand moves.
Balance 2 (Hands on Stomach) - Keep trying to keep yourself up on a handglide position. This is where abs come in. DO this like 50 times a day, and hold yourself up for at least 5 seconds. When you can balance for as long as 10 seconds, try to hop like jackhammers but instead, your using your using both hands. When you use your other hand for "hopping support", catch yourself with only one hand (the hand balancing you). If you manage not to fall, GOOD JOB! Now do it 50 more times....
Balance 3 (Shoulders and Elbows) - Do the same with "Balance 1" except your on your elbows/shoulders. Until you think you got good balance, try out new freezes or use the balance to perfect your old freezes.
Flexibility - Back - Do a lot of Bridges. When your doing it, try to bring your arms and legs as close as possible. Sit down with your legs closed and in front of you so you're on your ass. Try and reach your toes as far down as possible. Keep doing this everyday and it'll get closer and you'll develop back flexibility. Legs - Try to do a spilt north/south and west/east for at least 5 seconds. Helps spread legs for mills, airflares, flares, halo's and all the other leg-spread moves.
??? - Theres this one other one but i forgot whats it called. Its like pull-ups except your pulling up weights in front of you. Your using both hands to do it and it increases your wrist strength like hell.
Fear - Moves like backflip and frontflip. I don't exactly know how to get rid of these fear but if you just think about "Nothing's going to happen, I won't get hurt" that kind of thing, it sorta helps. Try these fearful moves on lawn first and once you do it and you see that you didn't get hurt, keep trying it and perfecting it. Once you get this down, then do it on cement where you're sure you wont hurt yourself.

first of all..your comment on lifting weights was very wrong..you never want to lift 20 times in one day..if your gona lift..get one or two at most..good workouts in
and you dont need to do over 30 lbs..if your gona lift any weights to improve your dancing..go very low weight and a ton of reps..to stretch out your muscles and build them..and you add bulk its going to be harder for you to move
to increase arm movement speed..get 5-10 lb dumbels..one in each hand..and punch with them..that way once you dont have them itll feel alot lighter..and youll be able to move your arms faster
kind of like running with ankle weights
and honestly..the best thing to help the muscles that you need for bboying..is bboying itself..if you have that much spare time..dance..dont to improve your dancing..dont do other things

ahh the mysterious "work out to help bboying" threads. All that stuff is fine and dandy BUT
Bboying helps Bboying. Bboying is mostly coordination and flexibility. I'm incredibly strong but not an incredible bboy. The best workout for your flare is to do flares. but don't bother practicing flares unless you have solid, on command, windmills. Practice, proper progression and patience are far more valuable then any weight lifting exercise you can do. If you feel the need warm up with push ups and pull ups, and some ab exercises.
Stop Reading! The internet is sucking your time away! Quick!! Go practice before it's to late!!!!!

Yo stop flaming he prolly took a while to write this. It's not bad or anything. I say you need to re-do a lot tho, pull-ups also help back muscles =D.

Its not bad? its misleading and almost entirely wrong and pointless. Lets go thru it
Dont bite the hand that feeds u, eventually everyone helping u will get annoyed...jesus.
Beginners giving beginners tips without understanding what they are saying is probally one of the worst ways to spread KNOWLEDGE.....which is the key to anything in life.

This thread is kinda for stretches, warmups and increasing strenght. It's not exactly required but i think it will help us improve our bboyin' skills. Correct me on some if im wrong.
***Will Do***
Lifting Weights - 30 lbs. or more, at least 20 times a day. More arm strength can help support your arm for moves like flares, arm freezes and other moves.
***1. All the strength you'll need you'll get by practicing. Actual weight lifting can effect your dancing badly if your going for something specific. Believe it or not, we use a lot of muscles that working out stereotypical muscles hurts. Not to mention you dont wanna work out everyday, its bad for you. 30 pounds or more? why didnt u just say work out to what you can. Its a stereotypical piece of advice thats actually incorrect. You dont need strength for flares or any arm freezes, if your using strength your not doing them the way they were intended to be done***
***working on your wrists thru pull ups? yea but probally not the best focus for your wrists. you want flexibility more than strength for those moves and doin the moves causes both. Over working pulls ups doesnt help either. Again you dont need strength for any of those moves.***
Milk - This is also good too. Drink a lot of milk, get stronger bones. Stronger bones means you get less chance of injury and pain (faster healing process too). Less chance of injury and pain means more practice. More practice means more improvement at bboyin'. Drink at least 7 cups a day.
***You dont need milk, milk is one of many ways to get the vitamins you need daily. to say just milk is completely wrong from many points of view. milk is one aspect of many, theres no need to focus on it like that. 7 cups a day is also a little over board, especially since most milk is fattening.***
Biking - If you bike a lot (10 mi) a day or do them leg weights stuff, it increases leg strength, meaning you can jump higher. It helps doing front flips, back flips, aerials, butterfly twist and all the other jumping moves.
***again, you wouldnt want to do it every day if your just working out for something else. general training isnt about that and it actually does nothing for muscle growth. REST and TIME....its a process and those are both needed. And leg strength is only one aspect of jumping higher, and theres better ways to get that benefit.***
Running/Jogging - I'm not so sure but if you run or jog at least 2 mi a day everyday, you can build up your stamina and endurance. You can last longer if your practicing bboyin' moves non-stop. I think it would also help increase momentum on some running moves like gainer.
***Its not going to help you gain momentum....u run the same rate you run. Besides u dont need a lot of momentum so who cares. The only thing you said good was the cardio workout, but u can do that toprocking.****
***no, you practice them until u get them. you dont have a set attempt, u dont have a set time ucan hold them. 15 seconds? u think that means u can handstand lol....if u really have them u hold them. handstands in general help very little, u still have to understan the other concepts that have nothing to do with handstanding.***
***stop saying 50 more times, ur sounding like an idiot***
Balance 3 (Shoulders and Elbows) - Do the same with "Balance 1" except your on your elbows/shoulders. Until you think you got good balance, try out new freezes or use the balance to perfect your old freezes.
***please just stop***
Flexibility - Back - Do a lot of Bridges. When your doing it, try to bring your arms and legs as close as possible. Sit down with your legs closed and in front of you so you're on your ass. Try and reach your toes as far down as possible. Keep doing this everyday and it'll get closer and you'll develop back flexibility. Legs - Try to do a spilt north/south and west/east for at least 5 seconds. Helps spread legs for mills, airflares, flares, halo's and all the other leg-spread moves.
***the only intelligent thing u said was about the bridges, and your giving basic stretches and only giving them half ass. 5 seconds? are u kidding me. your doing nothing in 5 seconds. Leg spread moves? lol!!***
??? - Theres this one other one but i forgot whats it called. Its like pull-ups except your pulling up weights in front of you. Your using both hands to do it and it increases your wrist strength like hell.
***chin ups?***
*** saying that as much as u want, wont help shit.***
Moves
6-Step
Don't really need much of anything.
***Needs wrist strength, cardio, leg strength, stamina, flex helps***
Windmillz
Wrist strength, arm strength and leg flexibility?
***Only in the beginning do u need wrist strength, after that you dont. You dont need arm strength, and flex really helps***
Flarez
Arm strength, wrist strength and back flexibility.
***leg flex, back flex, wrist flex, you DONT need strength for these***
L-Kick
Good balance on one hand. The momentum might carry you a little to far so watch it.
*** good balance on a ONE handed freeze? really? ***
Handglides
Wrist strength, and balance, and momentum.
***Once again....no kidding***
Headspin
Momentum and balance.
***Brainstorm***
Back Flip
Leg strength, momentum and no fear.
***Technique would help you more than anything, flex is another good thing***
Front Flip
Leg strength, no fear and probably running for momentum. (close you eyes because your gunna tend to put your hands down when u see the floor, its not a problem. It's just reflexes)
***If you cant do them without running, you cant do them. n close your eyes? lol nice***
90s and 2000s
Balance, momentum.
***LOL!!***
Swipes
Momentum, straight body and smooth leg movement.
***Flex helps, wrist strength is nice***
Starz
A lot of momentum and shoulder balance.
***oh my god lol***
Jackhammers
Wrist strength, balance and momentum.
***Winner of the year***
Airflarez
Wrist strength, fast arm movement and good momentum. Leg flexibility.
***shoulder flex would help you more than anything***
Halos Stiff neck, momentum, wrist strength, leg flexibility.
***wow, u really know how to point out the obvious huh***
