Rollback problems - 07-15-2006, 09:30 AM

Yeah I know I sound noobish on this one, but when I'm practicing a rollback to handstand somehow it hurts the upper part of my spine (between neck and shoulderblades) I've had serious pain once, I'm sure something got wrong but what?! Any help?
And a right guide to do a rollback to handstand would be really appreciated

man that HURTS!!!! I know what you're talking about. I also have these bones sticking out (like extra large shit)... some1 help lol... I think it's just because ours stick out that much. Do you have bones 'sticking out' in the front also?? Like between neck and chest

But still.. I really think I do the rollback the wrong way, it's not suppose to hurt my spine and shit..
Someone please be so kind and post a nice guide, that'll be dope

Oh yeah.. DNA what do you mean by "extra large"? I'm a pretty small gal actually.. :x

It might help if you tuck your head down and close to your chest as possible? If my head is sticking out then it's possible for all the force to suddenly be held on the head, which translates to a lot of tension in the neck...
but I really don't do this move too often so I'm not sure. Try to push up onto your arms as soon as possible as well.

Tuckin down my head is the first thing I do when doing an upside down move.
I've heard pushing up your arms isn't the only thing to get into handstand, they say you need to kick out aswell, but when do you exactly kick out? Cause when I do, I only end up the back of my neck and collapse like sloppy noodles
Should I be pushing myself up when I just land on the back of my neck or what? It hurts like hell after a few tries..

Well do a normal roll back but turn your head on right side (or left) that should fix the problem.
We were doing rollbacks like that in my karate lessions.

Err... what?! I would just rollback to the sides if i do that. I want to end up in handstand not acting like a dog trying to scratch his back O.o
Anyway thanks for trying though.

he means to do that in order not to hit your head on the floor..
