Exclamation scared of the wall - 10-03-2005, 07:30 AM

Hey,

I really need help with over coming my fear about the wall. I really want to practise with the wall but i'm like scared that I'm about to hit it.

Another prob is how on earth can u get onto the wall, i tried hopping and kick then thrust but i just can't get off the floor.

Can i have some tips plz? The only place ihave 2 practise is outside and there's not grass where I can practise.

Plz help me! Thanx

r u trying handstands? well u dont need a wall then! lol. just practice outside. if u want to use the wall, just do a handstand like normal. don't think about the wall. it doesn't hurt anyway :P just swing your leg up hard to get up.

I tried it withoout the wall and i got into a handsatnd for about 1 or 2 sec. But my legs weren't quite together....sort of handstand....

do some pushups or something to get some arm strength. try to straighten your legs in handstands. and remember to use your fingers to push to keep balance

Dont do it with the wall dont be a lil weenie about it kick ur legs up in the air and ur legs dont need to be together unless ur like in gymnastics or cheerleading dont take this wrong but grow some balls because once you fall you'll get up and be "like that was it!" and you'll be able to do it better the sooner u can get over that fear the sooner you'll be doing pikes nikes and airchairs FEAR STOPS PROGRESS dont get hung up on handstands think of how scared ur gonna be when u start learning flares. aight You Dont have to take my Advice but dont be scared IT STOPS PROGRESS

^ Listen to that guy. He knows his stuff.
But really, dude, grow some balls. Simple as that. But you should first get strength. Do the following:

1. at least three sets of pushups daily. (or 5-6 days a week)
2. Make sure that you are getting a good workout. Like, something so you can actually grow muscle. Its really easy to do handstands so you don't really need strength as much as balance.
In closing, breakin hurts just like everything else. It just takes practice and confidence and the WANT to learn the stuff. You don't get stronger by being lazy. You gotta keep gettin' up and tryin' until you get that stuff down.

Or else you're just going to fail. So don't be lazy or scared! it won't hurt as bad as you think. You'll just get some scrapes, maybe a couple of bruises. That's about it. Just remember to use your head and not fall straight on your head or somethin stupid.

I don't any Bgirls that handstand all that much... (for obvious reasons...) But if you really want to then just go outside on the grass... there isn't some magical difference between handstands from a guy or a girl. So just do them if you really want to. =P

I didn't do any pushups during my first handstands. I still don't do pushups, but I just keep doing handstands, one-handed stands, 1990's, kip-ups, etc. with no problem with strength man. First handstands were hard, but jsut keep doing it twice a day for an hour everyday and you'll have it in a few weeks bro.

with practise comes strength. do ur handstand against the wall an hold it for as long as u can, sure it will hurt but u get used to being upside down. repeat as much as u want
then once u feel confident u can hold urself up, move away from the wall and dont use it again, use ur fingers/palm to help steady urself

Yeah, I was working on headstands for 1week hard (average of 2hours every day) and im up to 1-2mins on headstands and I can shift my body to the left or the right and keep my balance usually while holding it there, also can go down on 1 elbow and 1 hand and hold it.

I've been doing handstands hardcore for 3days now (again around 2hours every day) my wrist hurt but screw it, my back feels a little funny also because I dont have good back posture and I have poor flexability but ive been doing yoga and stretches for the past month) I can hold a handstand for about 3-5seconds so far and I can walk with it. I've been doing handstand pushups every day against a wall also, usually around 10 a set, and about 20 average a day.

If you want something, you have to really go for it. Im 20 and almost 21 and I just started getting into breakdancing a month ago. My knee is a little messed up so im learning to "walk on my hands" until my knee is feeling better.

You may fail at something 1000 times, but eventually you will succeed if you keep trying. Failure is just 1 of the great ways we learn to succeed. Find what you want to do and start building yourself for it and you will eventually get there.

Peace,
Ultima
