Rollback to handstand - 08-14-2005, 08:46 AM

this is the first time i've tried rollbacks. when i'm on my upperback after i roll, i push up with my hands and kick my legs up. i then try to turn my head up to look at the ground, then i just fall. i was just wondering if i'm supposed to lock my elbows out. would that help me hold it longer? i heard that you gotta arch your back and pop your chest out. i tried that but its not working. can someone plz help? thanx

Get in the position of how you would be if you were doing a Kip Up.

Now From there Roll Back hard but not fast, you should now be on the back of your Head, Hand and neck.

From there kick your feet upward, not diagonal like a Kip Up. If you did everything right you should of slid onto the top of your head for a short second.

Now when you were on you head for that short sec, you would have needed to push up with your hands into a handstand. Depending on how hard you kicked, the transition of pushing up will be easy or hard.

Now all that crap is easy, the most important part is arching you back when you push up. When I first started learn this, I would always roll over in the handstand position or headstand position because I never knew of the arching.

What you gonna want to do is, when your pushing up from the headstand, you would want to arch your back slightly so that way you can counter balance with your legs and not roll all the way back.

Once you get the hang of it you can just skip the part of being on your head because then it would be a roll back to headstand to handstand.

So Short Recap......
Kip Up Position
Roll Back
Kick Up
Slide on to the top of your head (Temporary Step)
Push Up with hands to Handstand
^ During the Above step arch your back to create a counter balance

And there's all the help you need xD

Roll Back to head stand to Hand stand
decently, to skip the headstand part and your be groovy xD

hey i've been practicing for about 20 mins now (headstand to handstand). my handstand looks kinda weird. i think i'm arching by back way too much, but i can't help it. can sumone plz help?

LOL still using that cheap Video Editing Software xD

But yea you bending your knee and you don't want to do that. When you push up from the Headstand you want to shoot your Feet/Legs Upward with no knee bending. (Maybe a little bit)

But yea one of your main problems is that your trying to look up to fast. You want to kick up and still have the top of your head facing the ground. Once you shoot up to a handstand from the headstand and regain balance, thats when you want to look up with your head,

oh ok. thanx again. i'll practice more.
btw i use Windows Movie Maker lol. and the words that appear are just from my digital camera. i only use it to convert .avi files to .wmv to size it down abit. otherwise the vid would've been about 7 MB.

errrrrr..is my doing correctly? i dunno why when i try to do that...i only can raise myself up close to handstand...wut else do i need? strength?

speed and momentum is what bring you up mostly. Only little strength is needed.
