wrist joints - 07-21-2005, 09:30 PM

Hey guys, im new to breaking and i have a question. ive been practicing finding my balance with hand stands, and as i keep trying, my wrist joints are starting to get sore and hurt when i do them. Is this because i could be not shifting my weight well enough, or im doing them wrong someway? or is this soreness just something that happens when getting started?

Your wrists are probably sore from doing too many handstands without rest. Your wrists aren't conditioned for that. You should work out your wrists if you want less soreness. Just rest your wrists and it'll go away in a couple days.

i have strong wrists but i dont do wrist workouts...i think if you do moves that involve your wrists, they'll get naturally stronger and adjust to what you're doing

^ no. you should let it rest. first of all, if you keep going, your performance will degrade. secondly, it's bad for your wrists and you'll probably develop some wrist prob.

you should do stretches on your wrist aswell... cos most move applies so much pressure on wrists so before you break just stretch your wrists

best way to gain wrist strength is to have your arm flat by your side, grap a dumbell and just curl your wrist upward, it works your forearm AND your wrist. and do handstands then rest and flail your hands around, then repeat. sound like the most foolish thing to do but it puts them under pressure and then releases it by flailing them around. then repeat and after a week or so you should be pretty set.

ok well 1st of all never try a handglide for 30min because u will screw up ur wrists. u should always properly strech before ne breakdaning. the best way to get wrist strenth is buy getting a pole rope and weight. first u tie the rope to the pole then u tie the weight to the bottem of the rope. after u made this what u do is hold the pole out in front of u and twist the pole so that u start to wind the rope around it. basically u are winding up the rope and unwinding it so the weight goes up and down. i see ppl do this in my gym. i know this sounds confusing but whatever. just remember to stretch.
