Learning to fall forward in a handstand pos.. - 10-11-2003, 10:51 AM

Hey all, I'm new here.

I have this problem. I'm too scared to fall forwards in a handstand position. I tried and fell on my back a couple times. Btw, I can only balance myself in a handstand position for 2-4 sec. Can anyone help me? Thanks in advance.

well im new here,n kinda had the same problem, but i just delt with it, fell a few times on ma head, n shit, n almost craked ma neck once

i later discovered dat u could use a wall 2 help u, ie do it while facing a wall, so if u fall forward, the wall will support u
i have neva tryed this, but it makes sence

i also have the short handstand problem, and only yesterday did i get a few seconds

any 1 got any tips.. plz welcome

Build up some of your "pointless" (as some people call 'em) muscles. (Mostly the ones on your forearms, your lats, etc.) These muscles help you control your landing.....but they usually come with experience. You could go nuts with weights, or you could jus fall a couple of times on purpose, and build up enough strength to support your landing.

Can't u use ur leg to land?...and don't throw urself into a handstand...i mean dont force urself to do handstand....just lift ur leg slowly day by day.....and u will get is one day

it doesn't hurt if you go over, just do it once, your shoulders will be fine, don't sweat it.

I had the same problem with you but what I do now (I hold handstand only for 3-4 secs) is that I walk a little using my hands so I don't fall withmy back in the ground but with my legs like when I start,and when u fall with your back it doesn't hurt too much...It only needs self-confidence

face a wall, hands on the ground,walk ur feet up as high as you want and just practice rollin out.......... try bendin ur arms a little and rollin onto ur upper back, also dont forget to tuck ur legs in, if you dont ull fall flat on ur back, it wont hurt but might nock the wind outta ya
holdin a handstand is all bout wrist and palm controll, if you fallin forwards push ur fingers into the ground, backwards ur lower palm, it takes practice good luck
