MR. ManHy, sir, unclear on something i am. Something I have been wondering about for a long time, this is. Shoulder width, it is about.
Aww, screw Yoda. Okay here, all guides say shoulder width. Do you mean the gap between your hands is shoulder width, or the hands are parellel to your shoulders? like if you drew a line with your arm the line would be PERFECTLY perpendicular to the floor? or would your arms be wider than that? |

alrite ok, First of NEVER cal me Mr ManHy, makes me feel old :P
But yea, Just put your arms by your side and lift them out in front of you, that should be shoulder width apart. I find it easier to plant my hands lesser then shoulder width, because my center of balance will be more focus on the center instead of spreading weight evenly on the arms. |

alright no more spam. OOOPS spam! quick i need to make an on topic comment... errrrr... okay.
so are you saying that you should try to keep your weight right below your head as opposed to on your arms? because is works. it's just that i don't understand why. |

I don't know how to describe it, its just when your hands are closer together, you get more control of your handstands, thats all i can really say.

Do you think it's easier to practise the handstand with shoes or without shoes as a newb?

it doesn't matter, the landing is very soft for me all the time. if you're falling forward, don't worry, cause it doesn't matter if the shoes are on or off. it shouldn't hurt your feet.

if you're gonna fall, dont land on your heel. it's best to land on the front half of your foot.

well, yeah. that's why i hate PROPER (baby) suicides so much. my heel hurts. and when you fal, you can land on your whole foot, but it makes a loud noise and looks unprofessional. i find it easier to land an invert on the balls of my feet than a normal hollowbacks. mimick the kip up motion.
