It depends on how long you've been doing it. You might just need more practice or you may be doing something wrong.
Anyways, as long as you do understand how they work more or less you can pick up eclipses with no problems, one handed handstands are not as fundamental as regular ones. You may also want to try doing all in one movement, as you'd do once you got the move - going step by step can be a problem if your arms have little endurance, you can take the hand off and be already tired, heh Sorry I can't help more, but right now I know very little of what your problems are... |

Very little time, but I decided to pick it up only when I accidentally found out I was good at it. I kind of started with an advantage, probably because I'd already had handstands for a long time. A big part of the work is your previous experience with handstands and inverted powermoves.

Do you mean you keep moving backwards when you hop? There's a quick solution to that, if your hand keeps moving backwards it means it does have the room to move - room as in hop height. Place it further back than you do when you're moving and that should bring your center of gravity back on the right spot, or at least make you start moving the opposite way if you place it TOO far. That's the key to continuous hops, if you start moving away just counter it. You will jump around, but after a while you'll gain enough experience to keep more or less in place.
I don't know about the cause, but kicking vertical isn't the point - if your whole body isn't vertical, bad kicking is just what follows. That's something you have to find out by recording yourself, or at least having someone watch you if you can tell them what to look out for. |

Everything said here applies to two handed hops as well, except the weight shifting part of course - the only difference is that you have more balance.
I looked around but couldn't find a guide for them... I thought it would be full of them, weird Anyways I don't like them much, I prefer scissor kicks when it comes to two handed stuff, they take less effort and look better IMO. |

2 hand scissors look infinitely better than 2 hand pumps.
for 1 hand, i think it's way easier to pump. but scissoring still looks better. i also enjoy opening and closing my legs. it looks good depending on the song. |

k i have a question. k when i hop i dont kick the same way as u(like with my legs behind my back at then start) i kick like with my legs crunched in from the top then i push upwards. sorta like a pike but more upwards. anyways i dont think it really matters how u kick cuz i seen all kinds of hopping styles.
anyways i was wondering how do u hop around in a circle? i seen ppl handhop in videos and as they hop they slowly spin. how do u initiate this spin?(i heard it helps with balance) anyways i can hope around like that for like 4 hops like no more. and one more question i dont think it was in ur guide. when u hope do u lock ur elbow so it doesnt bend, or do u flex it the entire time? |

Hopping around in circles is done by leading the rotation with your free hand, kind of what you do with a 90.
If I got the right one, the way of hopping you described is the one I like best right now, it's more comfortable, easier and you can get mad high hops that way lol After you build up enough strenght, it doesn't matter much whether you keep your arm straight or bent, it's generally better to keep it straight, but sometimes it can bend the other way around and hurt for a few minutes, especially if you get it tired. On the other hand, if you get tired while keeping it bent you can end up kissing the ground. So it's basically about deciding which way to fall =P The only thing I can tell is that strenght helps with both of the problems, but more with the second one. |

alright, first of all i want ot say congrats on a good guide.
Now for the question, you say that you should practice one hand handstands before going onto the hops. In your case, how long could YOU hold a one hand handstand before you started practicing for the hops. And how long can you hold a one hand hnadstand nowadays. Just one last thing, how onld are you anyways, how many years you been breakin?? Once again, good guide. |
