this is pretty simple. basically, this is to help some of the newbies.

basically, this thread is for newbies to request that someone with experience does a sketch of thier name. all i ask is that you post a sketch of your name to let us see how good you are and we can help you out better knowing what kind of style were working with.

for example, if i was new, i'd ask if someone would draw my name(jek) in those crazy cool graffiti letters, and post a pic of a sketch i took an hour to do, but still isnt all that great. then, if someone with experience want to be nice becasue i'm a cool dude, they'll take some time and sketch "jek".

pretty simple. and it would be awesoem if some of the better writers would help out with this!

This is my take on the tuddles tag. The first time I read the name, the stay puff marshmellow man character from the old Ghostbusters movie dcame to mind. Even the name was kinda "soft and squishy" . I thought the name could best be expressed with a "bubble style" but with a twist. I turned the letters into marshmellows at first, but noticed they lacked that edge that all graf writers wanna have, or IMO "should" have. I "set the marshmellows on fire" and that effect seemed to work. Let me know if I was successful. Holla back.

I aint trying to say he's soft! LOL! I dont even know him! I'm just saying that was the image I had when I saw the name. Just an initial reaction, that's all no offense ... I hope to anyone. Most people DO have a tender side for something, or someone though, so I aint saying he's soft and weak! the marshmellows here can give you a 3rd degree burn if you touch 'em!

Your name, Sifer rsounds similar to the word," Saifa" an Okinawan Goju Kata. Saifa means "smash and tear" and is of Chinese origin, brought back to Okinawa by Kanryo Higaonna, just to give a little history lesson, but I like the term SMASH and TEAR. whihc is a good starting point for giving you a mental picture from which you can build. I think a tag like any piece of artwork should have a "story" or "theme' that drives it, and not just a bucho of letters that look "cool"
Think about what the name represents to you and why you chose it. Once you've figured THAT out , go about constructing the letters. It's pretty easy to swipe a coupla "cool" letters and come out with something looking like everyone elses stuff, but when you have something that's your own original concept, then everyone else gets to bite off YOU.
Like I said in the beginning, your name reminded me of the karate kata that deals with smashing and tearing.. right away Im thinking of cider blocks, bricks or ice smashed somehow. Im also thinking about something dorn like heavy cloth... use your mind to free associate and draw THAT image out. Maybe the letters can be cracked, or crumbling.... maybe they can be exloding from the center, perhaps it could be ripped to shreds and the ripped pieces form the letters... see where Im going with this?

This is what I came up with for KYRO. It was hard to get a mental picture with this one so I started playing witht he letters. I asked myself "what do the individual letters look like, or what CAN they look like?" After a few minutes, I thought about LEGS using th3e letters K and R. Well, Legs have feet, so I added those, Feet wear Shoes, and legs wear pants! Boom! that's how the idea came up. The legs make the tag look like it's in motion. The bomb at the end of the piece conforms to the circle shape of the letter "O" and also adds that "edge" that I think a piece should have. Also, the name, "kyro" rhymes with the word, "Pyro" as in Pyromanic, which is a person who has a fascination with fire and likes to start them. (It also gives me another excuse to insert some fire in the piece) The handstyle at the bottom "about ta Blow up" only adds to that. Hope you like.

Here's Sifer. I wanted to go with the exploding idea, but when I started drawing I wanted to see if I could make a character out of one of the letters. I'm more of a character artist than a straight up writer, I will admit so doing characters and cartoons come natural.(not that the "animated spraycan idea had never been done before) The spraycan represents the letter "I" obviously. In keeping with the whole "explosion" idea I decided to make the letters "crumbling stone" as if some explosion has already happened. I may have overdone it with the fire again, but whatever...

My ideas are just guides used to spark your imagination. If you wanna use all or in part, that's up to you. I make my money in other ways and have no "rep" to protect. (just remember who showed it to you first though!) If any artform is to evolve it's up to the current artists to take it to another level. I've got mad respect for writers who can do wildstyle, bubble letters etc. etc. but it's up to you as an individual writer to come up with different solutions instead of copying the same old letters and concepts.
