most people use prismacolors or copics. most people find copics better because they're easier to blend. either way, using them properly does take some practice.

for inking i use rapidographs, altho i kno a lot of guys who like using micron or that pegma stuff. meh, personal choice i suppose.

most any marker is good is you just need to know how to use em. theres no such thing as an ultimate marker..

markers - 12-25-2005, 10:04 PM

I use chartpaks it has a nice flow of ink and the colors blend nice together. When drawing on paper I also combine them with prismacolor art stixx which are inexpensive and can be used for a variety of airbrush type effects.
I've even used FAT Crayola markers which give you a nice variation of line quality and seems to have an unlimited ink supply.

I'm mostly into drawing characters?caricatures now, and not so much lettering like in my young days. Check me out at

IF you have the cash, buy a few markers from all the brands you can get your hands on and try them out. Personal preference play a big part on which markers are "best". Perosonally i like prismas and deco, but deco's havent been kinda hard to find latley. low quality markers piss me off because it makes me feel like i ruined a perfectly good piece of art, but you've gotta work with what you got.

just go to your local art store and ask what markers they have that are best for "proffesional looking drawings" tell them your an art student and they'll point you to what you're loking for.. buy a couple and take soem home in your pocket

I Swear by Design........ - 03-14-2006, 11:57 PM

If you can find the old metal Design markers, those are the shit. We racked like 200 of those fuckers in 1986(for real) and i still have soe of them that work. Other than that Prismacolors have the best colors i think and chartpaks are cool but they bleed like mad. I guess it doesnt really matter so much tho, if you know color, then the markers are just another way of using it. if your color is wack, then $300000000 worth of markers aren't gonna help you.

hahaha $300,000,000 worth of markers isnt a bad thing to have, even if it doesnt help. =]
