Lots of people I've talked to describe it as 'gangster writing', some think of it as some form of the art of hip-hop, and some others just think its a way of writing to look cool. What do you guys think?

A tag is just a writers signature. It doesn't describe a whole art form, much like most people think.

Anyone who refers to a writer as a "tagger" or says that they "tag" does not know what they are talking about.

The correct usage would be "While I was riding the train home from work, I hit up the insides with tags while the transit cops weren't looking."

Something like that. I hope I answered your question.

Some ppl call it "gangster writing" cuz some of the gangs in america have writers in em...and this writer just tags up all over wit the gangs name....in chicago ive seen alot of gang shit all over....in my area ther was alot of "kings" tags everwhere...

tagging is when u go around a convenience store with this roll of tape that is attached to a sticker gun and u apply the stickers on boxes or items. (ex: ODD JOB) ;o
