i think graf is slowly dying. tho its always gonna be around in some shape or form or whatnot, the amount of graf today is nothing in my opinion to tha late 70's thru to late 80's.
what y'all think?
idk bout dying now that so many people getting into it but i mean cops taking big ASS measures such as VS (VANDAL SQUAD) which is like an undercover force jus for graff and transit police locking paint up at stores cameras eveery where which dont really stop u but still might wanna have a hood or mask taht kinda stuff
I agree! in LIl ass twn i live in .Stors dont lock there paint up but if ya want to buy some they will not sel it to you if you r under 18 and if you r over 18 they will still make you fill this paper out ya have to tell your adress and phone number anf so on.... thats bull shit

graff is growing beautifully, writers these days have made stylez to put old school shit to shame. There writers taking shit to new levels everyday, new concepts, new theories, new was of thinking. Graff is alive and fucking, b ut is almost completely consumed by hate.
FTP! I lay down perfection to change the direction these fake writaz be steppin, they try and disturb my ascension so I cut them with a sword like i was kenshin.
slang, bang count yo change mang
MURDA did urealize that now the point of graff is to like bragg about getting chased lol u shoould keep ur a writer on the dl basically and i like old skool more neways cuz they had more love and were toys compared to all them
i agree. i like old school stuff. and i mean when we are talking old school its only like 20-30 years old. i mean not too much has happened in the world of art/grafitti to change up the styles too much. i mean there has been progression but not like it all blows old stuff out of the water......

Goddi and Anaktix--this was when i was in AZ for a day. we recorded this really quick. its not bad but i can do better. this is just so yall can hear me. i like freestyling much better at open mics and shit. hopefully the studio my boy got around the block will be open soon. http://soundclick. com/share?songid=6686079 www.myspace.com/goddi_rock_the_mic
word to that^. and plus, back in oldschool days of like the Style Wars movie, nearly every kid on tha block bsides a few graffed. now its like every kid sits on his arse with a ps2 or some shit, snd only 1 grafs. this may be slightly exagerated, but honestly, nothing really special is hapnin ne more. especially not in Australia at least.
yea... mabye. but elaborate on ur definition of levelling
I just found an intresting thing in the Great Gatsby. Apparently at Gatsbys mansion after his death some kid scrawled an obscene word on his stairs in brick. This means nothing... except for how ancient graffiti really is. Back in the 1920s... whod guess? AND mainstream... the Great Gatsby is one of the most famous books of all time.
Mabye we'll sink back to that level eventually... but i doubt it. Negative is always 1 step ahead of everything else.
hell naw aint dying!is like saying is bboy dying lol naw more n more people are getn in to it sameway we did but dying hmm bak in da 70 yeh it was da main thing to do byt eh it was alot easier to get up now this days is harder with all da higt tech ...naw graffiti aint dying and aint neva ginna die!
you want proof that graff is still alive and kickin? go walk the streets of LA. that city has the fuck bombed outta it...illegal pieces in the illest spots...cuz they're actually pushing limits and shit. go check out NYC and see how fuckin far Ja goes just to get up...ish none of us would even imagine doing, he does daily.
graffiti isn't dying. writers are getting lazy and letting their heads get swelled. to quote one of the heads from my city, "young writers put out some of the best shit out there"...because they don't have the ego and they don't stick to one style. (by the way that's not a direct quote).
it's one thing to sit back and talk about how nobody pushes the limits and there's no style progression (which, imo, there is...east vs west coast vs europe etc etc)...it's another to step back from the computer and do it.
Think about it, you have writers learning the ins and outs of entire transport systems, risking serious injury even death, arrest and criminal records that would limit your opportunities for the rest of your life, for what? To simply paint a picture, does this seem logical to you? If the answer is no then it is most likely that you don’t fathom the idealism behind graffiti.
