first up, happy holidays to all, hope everybody's gettin into the holiday spirit and all that
i'm proposing somethin crazy here...a tournament-style, holiday-themed battle hosted by none other than myself. here's what i'm thinkin it'll be like...
STRUCTURE:
-8 or 12 writers battling
-4 or 6 randomly selected first-round matchups
-if there are 12 writers, it will be narrowed down to 6 for the 2nd round, then 3 for a three-way final
-if there are 8, it will progress in normal single-elimination style
JUDGING:
-first 2 rounds judged by EVERYBODY involved in tourny (mandatory)
-final judged by myself and a few appointed individuals (probably other mods)
ELIGIBILITY:
-must have battled before OR have shown a significant amount of work in the Blackbook Thread
-must be in good standing in the Graffiti Forum
-writers who have been on the board longer will have priority for entry over newcomers.
RULES:
-holiday/winter themed (snowmen, kwanzaa, hannukah...no hate, do whatever ya want that pertains to the season)
-no biting
-no pinch hitting
-DEADLINES will be set by me...failure to meet deadlines will result in disqualification.
-1 throw-up (including handstyle)
-1 full-color piece
-1 holiday character (if needed for tiebreak)
PRIZES:
-pride (ain't that grand?)
-possibly caps or paintpen (probably caps) for 1st place
-depending on participation, caps for 2nd place (possibly)
post in this thread if u want to be in. this will be a very structured format due to time constraints. i'll keep everyone updated on dates and such.
Think about it, you have writers learning the ins and outs of entire transport systems, risking serious injury even death, arrest and criminal records that would limit your opportunities for the rest of your life, for what? To simply paint a picture, does this seem logical to you? If the answer is no then it is most likely that you don’t fathom the idealism behind graffiti.

New York subway a year after it was built. There`s graffiti on the
moon. If graffiti is vandalism, and vandalism is graffiti, then man
has left his mark with garbage at the farthest reaches of the
universe. So you with your pathetic desire to be remembered are in
good company. I could spend a ream of paper telling you about the
development of modern graffiti, but we`ve got other ground to cover.
It`s important that you know it, so ask your local expert (or DJ
Deadly Budda in Pittsburg if you don`t have one) and he`ll tell you
his version.
