3d vs. 2d pieces -
07-05-2004, 11:24 PM
Alot of people i know dont like 3d pieces like the ones done by Daim because they think it is more "art" than graffiti.
Personally i like them both, if you can pull 3d pieces off nicely then they often look alot better than 2d's. I think one of the reasons people do not like 3d pieces is because they cant do them, or cant be bothered learning to do them. But anyway, what do you guys think...

thats pretty good desii, now for the top and bottom u cant do it only top or bottom , u can do it top right/left or down right/left it wont look good if u only did it top alone or bottom. by the way why r u caring bout 3d from now man u should work on a throwie or simple letters(no 3d) then when u get ur letter style right u start adding some 3d.

i used to do 3d's blindly, but i found that an easy way to do it is put a dot wherever you want the 3d to fade off to, for example in your picture where on either side the lines fade off to, instead of having 2, just draw a dot directly under your piece, then connect lines from the ends of your letters to that dot, make sure though that the 3d is always the same thickness, and erase the dot after you have finished. PM me if you'r still not sure ill be glad to send you some step by step pics on how to do them

oz u got any tips for the STYLE 3d? cuz i've been foolin around with it...haven't gotten it down though
Think about it, you have writers learning the ins and outs of entire transport systems, risking serious injury even death, arrest and criminal records that would limit your opportunities for the rest of your life, for what? To simply paint a picture, does this seem logical to you? If the answer is no then it is most likely that you don’t fathom the idealism behind graffiti.

yeah it's pretty hard, some people are good at 3d and shit at 2d which is strange.. but i dunno, ive been fooling around with it but its difficult, kinda like learning to graff all over again.. i looked at some peoples 3d's and they bend their letters then just add the 3d behind it, alot of 3d is all in the colour, 3d looks pretty shit without colour and alot of the reason why people prefer 2d to 3d isbecause its very hard to get any style in 3d pieces as ive found out on numerous times. if you ever go on purgraffiti check out the 3d section under sketches, some interesting stuff there, i remember one guy had his 3d piece with just outlines then a colour photo, that was pretty helpful in terms of understanding how they set it out. only problem is that forum is full of people that think they'r all hardass gangsters out to prove a point on an internet forum..

3D Graff -
07-22-2004, 09:12 PM
Who ever says that 3d graffiti is just art and not graffiti is a moron. Whether your throwing a bomb or putting up a piece, if its done intentionaly by an urban artist or writter than its graff. Just because its more technical doesnt make it any less. My entire style is built around 3d graff and Ill fight for it till the day I die. People need to open thier eyes before they put a negative vibe on 3d graff especialy if Daims name is involved.

my thoughts exactly.. i respect the shit outta people that do the 3D styles.. mostly 'cause i cant do em all that well.. just like good stencil artists.. so waht if it's not my style, if you're good at something, you deserve props for it.. if not, get better.. if you dont like somehting, dont bash it.. respect it..
