Exclamation Best Experience Ever - 10-27-2003, 06:10 AM

Hey, I posted this in every forum but I've been trippin off of it for a minute so I figured I share it with my artistically vandalistic friends. Naw mean?

Seriously, yesterday, I had one of those days where you think that it couldn't have gotten much better. Minneapolis was having a celebration of dance so I decided to become a part of what was being advertised by the bboys by the greatest thing to come to MN. I decided to see what was up.

So, I initially I got to see a discussion that was with Don Cambell(inventor of locking), Boogalo Sam (inventor of the funk style boogalo) and Rennie Harris (famous correographer). It was real ill to see what they had to say. If they come around to you, don't sleep. These cats love the dance more than I've ever known people ever to love something. I love the dance, they actually live it.

Then, I arrived at the bboy competition, ready to compete, and realized that no one was going to judge. Everyone thought that I would make a good judge, so I said OK. The other judge? Popmaster Fabel from the Rock Steady Crew!(actlikeyouknow) That was dope! He really respected what I had to say on the decisions and I really felt that he and I made good decisions.

Then me and my boys were invited to partake in the show that was taking place later on that evening. We got there and guess who was performing? Don Cambell, the Electric Boogaloos (Poppin Pete, Mr. Wiggles, Boogaloo Sam, Sugar Pop and Skeeter Rabbit) !!! They were so dope!! I really felt that all the dancing that I had ever partaken in was leading up to this. To meet all the innovators, pioneers, and inventors; it seemed too much.

The best actually was getting to bust in the circle with them and actually meeting them. Wiggles thought I was funny, thought I had a wierd but good style, and Skeet liked my graff that I had in my blackbook. I had a blast! Anybody that get's a chance to partake in something like this definitely should.

Once upon a time in Minneapolis,
Yo,
I damn near had to steal the show...

"GRAFFITI IS AN ART, AND IF ART IS A CRIME, HOW COME PICASSO NEVER DONE TIME"

Cavemen did it, so did Romans and Egyptians. The Incas did
it, so did Greeks and Native Americans. There was graffiti on the
New York subway a year after it was built. There`s graffiti on the
moon. If graffiti is vandalism, and vandalism is graffiti, then man
has left his mark with garbage at the farthest reaches of the
universe. So you with your pathetic desire to be remembered are in
good company. I could spend a ream of paper telling you about the
development of modern graffiti, but we`ve got other ground to cover.
It`s important that you know it, so ask your local expert (or DJ
Deadly Budda in Pittsburg if you don`t have one) and he`ll tell you
his version.
