pieces - 10-19-2003, 10:40 PM

Ok, i dont understand one thing. How the hell do you poeple do pieces??? How can you do somethine so elaborate, detailed, without messin up?? Do you guys take your black book with you and look at the sketch you did in it or what? I practice my throwup the whole day yestarday, and today i went out and tried it on a wall. It looked decent after i had the sketch almost engraved in my head to the point where i didnt need a sketch. I mean some of the pieces i saw on the net are simply amazing. I found a bridge with a Revok's piece. And when i did my throw up on the other side i can actualy see how hard this shit is. I got great respect for all you writers that can do that shit. *bows head*

"GRAFFITI IS AN ART, AND IF ART IS A CRIME, HOW COME PICASSO NEVER DONE TIME"

Cavemen did it, so did Romans and Egyptians. The Incas did
it, so did Greeks and Native Americans. There was graffiti on the
New York subway a year after it was built. There`s graffiti on the
moon. If graffiti is vandalism, and vandalism is graffiti, then man
has left his mark with garbage at the farthest reaches of the
universe. So you with your pathetic desire to be remembered are in
good company. I could spend a ream of paper telling you about the
development of modern graffiti, but we`ve got other ground to cover.
It`s important that you know it, so ask your local expert (or DJ
Deadly Budda in Pittsburg if you don`t have one) and he`ll tell you
his version.

ok yall, lol..

decent fill - go 1 way quite quick but so that you dont need to pay that much attention, and keep goin over and over again going the SAME direction and eventually it should be a smoother fill, cause if you did it slow then you would think that it would get a smooth fill on 1 straight fill, but it will just cause mad drips..

smooth lines - take your time, go over it more then once if you have too, or get a fat cap and cut* down usin a different color, but if its straight and not a curved line, you could use tape.. but for throwies as you say you were doin, imo the quicker you go but still at a stedy speed, you get a smooth straight lines but it may os showed up a bit light and you can hardy see, but then use that as your base and go over that line slowly...

take your time - in some places like train/freight yards then you cant really do this as there are peeps lookin for writers there all the time, you can have a break do the outline and basic fill then rest and look at it and the piece in your black book, is it the same? hw could you improve, etc..

i could go on for more, but i g2g to school, peace.. hope this helped

Its hard because your not use to it. Alot of people question that alot on here. The hard truth is to actualy grow some balls and just paint. every one has to start some where right!

Thats the only way you will get good is just go out and practice as much as you can your skills will develop in time thats the only true key to anything.

im going to kill manila for putting that sig earlyer. your wierd manila hahahahah

Here is a small guide on how to paint your piece. Before you even try this practise throwies till they solid:

1) I start with ma letter outline. For this you will need a thin cap. Take care because this is gonna be a big part of your piece.

2) Now i fill in ma letters. For this use a fat cap. Like i think it was bomb said layer the paint.

3) Do the letter details. These are things like 3d(if your using it) or stars and shit. You will probably use a thin cap for this.

4) I now do ma background. Some people start with this first but its up 2 u. Just mess around with different styles. Use fats and thins watever.

5) Tag the bottom stand back and take a look.............now leave quikly.

ps) This is only for a basic type of piece. Just try it and find different ways its called developing a style

Its all practice

I always take my BB with me for a elaborate peice, or when im using a new alphabet to do a throwie. Im sure there are some people that can just go out and drop a dope burner, they are just that good.

And just to correct, its a throwie, not a throwup. If you practice a throwup you might go beleimic

You kinda do it the wrong way

1) Do your bg without much detail
2) Do an outline with the colour of your main fill
3) fill it
4) Do outlines, use a skinny cap(belton skinnys are very good but need a bit of practice to get clean lines, montana skinnys or goldcap montana lvl 3) or a fat cap if you are doing a bigger piece, something like ny fat.
5) add blends to your fill and effects to bg, whatever
6) pass your outlines ones more to point it out from the rest of the piece

if you don't agree with this do something else

and for the thing about carrying your bb when writing, if youre doing a piece you really need the bb coz of details but for bombs it really isn't nescessary and only makes you slower when bombing
