Recently, I have read in the latest ussue of Wired Magazine (any Wired subscribers out there?) that there is a new graffiti early warning system developed by Traptec called the Taggertrap. I'll post the article pic, and type it out.
This is what It says...

The Graffiti Early Warning System
Ssssss...Busted! Taggertrap, a new alarm system by Traptec, is activated by the ultrasonic sound of a graffiti artist's spraycan. When its wireless sensors pick up aerosol sibilance within 200 feet, Taggertrap calls the cops via cell phone and records the scofflaws with tiny DV cameras. "It's nearly impossible to catch criminals in the act," says Judy Ronnebeck, a police officer in Escondido, california. Taggertrap "helps us stay one step ahead." Authorities recieve the DV footage immediatley via email, so they have evidence of the crime before dispatching personnel. In an early test, six youths in San Diego County were caught red-handed.-Adam Skolnick

Just a little heads up on my fellow writers who do not know this already to be very careful when doing what you love.
This is the article..
Past Names: bboy alloy --> Noche Rock --> Ritmo
New Name: Zoinks!
thos things cost money... and in alot of town they wont have the money to buy that kind of stuff for one kind of crime.
Anyways, im sure that you could make some kind of 'silencer' for a can, since you only need to muffel around the tip of the can... would be itneresting to try
conclusion:It prolly wont catch on.
GraffitiMachina is a fictional name, and the owner uses this account for role playing purposes only. Any mention of graffiti or illegal acts is completely fictional and any relation to real life acts or people is completely coincidental.

see, they wont buy it though... its a big investment to get things like that, especially for a crime that doesnt really happen in rish neighboorhoods. And the slums wont have enough momey to buy shit like that. So really, only the middle ground towns/cities will buy it, and even then it wont really help.
yea i heard about this ish a while back. if u stick to where graff started and still presides, aka the "not-so-affluent" neighborhoods, to put it nicely, then u'll be fine.
Think about it, you have writers learning the ins and outs of entire transport systems, risking serious injury even death, arrest and criminal records that would limit your opportunities for the rest of your life, for what? To simply paint a picture, does this seem logical to you? If the answer is no then it is most likely that you don’t fathom the idealism behind graffiti.

first, wear a mask. second, if you think "taggertrap" MIGHT be around, do a throwie.. wheres the proof it was you. also try to spray a can for a few seconds into the air (hair spray should work if you dont wanna waste paint) and chill for a half hour.. if no pigs show, paint.
besides, we paint mostly in places where peeps can see it if they want to but dont have to see it.
this system will probably go mosty in subways and BIG citys like NY and MTL..
