cant tell which is they toy one and which aren't. To be blunt, they are all wack. Learn simple letters and practice. Making an unreadable mess isn't what it's about.

Damn, I didn't know that my stuff is really so bad (all my friends seemed to like them cuz most of them arent really into this graff stuff xD)
I started simple style and changed into semi-wildstyle after a couple of months...but fuck it, back to da old school. Is this one better? ![]() edit: When I look at wildstyles made by advanced writers, they also look like an unreadable (but still beautiful) mess... And I also think that most of my sketches are very easily to read, except my wildstyle sketch...but hey, it's my first try |

no. still attempting style with no recognition of solid letter structure. drop all the extras and the exaggerations and learn real letters. These are weak and unbalanced. try consistent, uniform letters, drop the 3d and learn letters letters letters. Simple letters doesnt only mean recognizable, it means SIMPLE...like fonts, or the letters on your keyboard. The bold letter in print advertisements are a really good way to learn also.
The wildstyles you see that are so complex are still based in knowledge of letters(at least the good ones). without the basic knowledge of letters and composition, your work will look amateur and poor no matter how you camoflage it. |

So you mean like this?
![]() I probably can't do them more simple unless I'm doing them in 1D o.O When I compare this with my other sketches, they look much more stylisher, cuz this looks really boring...normal people couldn't even associate this with graffiti... I don't wanna be a hardcore-action-writer who paints 3 metres high blockbuster bombings (although I like this sort of writing). I get action and adrenaline through b-boying. My aim is that one day I hopefully have some crazy stylish pieces made on the most famous Hall of Fames on this planet... How I can improve my skillz by copying my keyboard...? But otherwise you give me the impression of somebody who knows what he says, so I guess I have to belive you... |

![]() Those simple letters will help you like a foundation! First you learn how to "master" the simple stuff, then gain knowledge on how to do the other stuff (the stuff you want to do). This is all like at different "levels", you are at the first one. You did good, but you still have to learn a lot from those letters you just made. Practice them A LOT, so much they'll become natural. Once that happens, play around with them, keeping some level of simpleness with them. Learn how to use the 3D shadow, the outlines, all those simple things. You'll only learn from experience, but for that to work out better, you need to start from scratch! |

There is no shortcut to learning art. You either do it the hard way or it never happens. Even in this great modern age of automation, a computer will not teach you to draw and paint. |

I spent nearly 8 months in sketching and all my money on cans, just to hear that all I did was completely wrong...and I still don't give up, so don't tell me I'm a pussy. I was just curious, because I never heard of such a program. |

8 months is nothing when learning a vocation. I didnt call you anything but feel free to take my comments any way you like. In the end, if the result is you learning to improve then its a job well done. At the same time, if it weeds out a potential faker, then the job is done even better. This is an artform that is to be respected and worked toward. there are no shortcuts. Your comments regarding simple styles alone attest to the fact that you have alot of learning to do. My advice or commentary may not be pretty or polite, but it is solid I assure you. If you can get past your ego for a few and start learning then you will eventually have the skills it takes to do those things that you admire. If your ego stops you at a few bad comments then it is no real loss to the community.

Get off the internet and run the streets. You'll know if you're doing something wrong because someone is either going to smack you or cap you. Kids have it off too easy nowadays that they can sketch and look at photos online, bite and try to imitate styles yet not get a good old fashioned broken nose for it.
