Start even more simple. And don't do those drips for now. Once you get the feel for the basic letters then you will see what can look good and what can't.

just sketch a lot for now...make shure you got clean lines....the simpelness is good, keep making a lot of sketches in this style(of simpleness) and when you done a lot of sketches you will see youre work become better in time....all you gotta do is practice a lot to be honoust...just like everyone else and as I said before youre starting good keep going in that direction
