I'm not saying preach to people what they should and shouldn't listen to but don't diss someone about there taste when most likely they have never heard a real good MC besides someone who is on the radio.
^ Word up to that.

I hate how you guys can label someone as mainstream because of what they wear or what they listen to. I wear Famous and Southpole shit, does that make me "mainstream?" I listen to Chamillionaire, UGK, and Lupe Fiasco, does that make me "mainstream?"

I think a lot of you need to get off your high horse like you have the right to determine what someone is by appearance and likes. If anything, you guys need to educate and stop being prejudice fucks. If you're tired of people talking about hip hop like it's only rapping (which a lot of people on here are guilty of) then help em learn about the four elements.

I mean how can some of you even talk about how mainstream someone is when some of you yourself are stupid to what hip hop even is? If anything these mainstream artists are still supporting the culture even if they don't know it. All the mainstream cats are rapping, which is part of hip hop. So they're supporting it, and people should move on with they're lives. Granted they may not be that skilled, but they all got to where they're at because they have some talent. And they achieved that by loving what they do, and to me that's hip hop in it's truest form. If you're doing one of the four elements because you love it, no matter how wack it is, that's hip hop.

I find it funny that people on this forum who are so obsessed with how much they dislike the mainstream choose to dedicate an entire thread to it. If you don't like it then that's fine, move on with your life. Learn to let people like whatever the hell they want without being subject to scrutiny by some of you so called "hip hop ambassadors."

I'm talking about the ignorant fucks who don't know shit about hip-hop that run around my school's hallways saying marco polo because they want to be popular by singing that bullshit..

it's cool an all that you wear southpole, notice i didn't talk about clothing nope, that has nothing to do with one's ignorance.

I understand what you're trying to say but thats not what my thread is about, its about all these kids who are trying to be running up and down the hallways bumping lame shit...

easier said then done, go tell some kid who wants to "trap" to listen to rakim he'll say fuck off that cat is oldschool.. you know why should i give these people respect when they aren't giving the culture that they look up to respect.

If they're as ignorant as you they say then I bet almost all of em don't even know hip hop is a culture. So how can you expect them to give respect to something they don't even understand? Basic knowledge is better than no knowledge at all

At least try'n educate em some, if they still don't care then that's their problem. Don't stress about it, just acknowledge that they like being ignorant about something they like. It's about all you can do in that case

^Word yo.. I don't really "hate" on them. And it's not based off appearance. It's based on what they SAY. Most dudes I HEAR talking about LIL WAYNE or SOULJA BOY every day. Literally. Everyday in class. So it's actually pretty easy to "judge" since technically I'm not judges. I'm just drawing conclusions based on the facts presented, since all they talk about to their friends when concerning music is how dope Lil Wayne is or how dope this "hyphy" cat is.. when if you heard hyphy, you've heard it all. They act like one dude is different from the next when they always rap about the same thing, in the same style, over similar sounding beats. If someone won't LISTEN to ME when I REALLY do tell them "yo.. have you heard of Rakim? He's dope you should try him out.." or "how about Nas? Dude is nice on the mic" They're like "fuck Rakim, i don't fucks with old school" or "fuck Nas, his music is wack" without even giving them the chance! Now before you go "you're doing the same by saying lil wayne is wack blahblahBLAH". Now let me tell you, I've heard several of his songs, wasn't impressed so don't go putting that shit on me. I try to tell them POLITELY "yo.. yeah lil waynes cool I guess but if you like his shit you'll like One Be Lo's".. and before I finish the sentence it's "BREH, LIL WAYNE IS THE BEST RAPPER OUT RIGHT NOW, BREH". I'm just like yeah okay, the fuck ever.

I'm not advocating or constituting MY behavior or trying to force it on people or some shit. I think I should've worded my 1st post better but right now I'm explaining it.

If someone opens their mouth and they sound ignorant/stupid as fuck, would you REALLY want to associate with them? Tell me the truth. When they ridicule, giggle, or laugh or say some rude ass shit when I talk OUT loud, having discussions in class with friends or even to the teacher (happens to me, when teachers are nice and it relates to the subject being taught), it pisses the FUCK out of me. But do I say shit to them if they're not talking to me? Naw, I ain't rude like that. So right away, I can TELL. I don't need to judge shit.

So don't try to come with that crap.. I still stand by what I say and think of certain people. If they prove me wrong, hey good for them. I'll look like a complete dick. But until then.. I'm waiting.

Oh and Spell, yo I listen to Lupe, Common, Nas, DMX (not really out anymore, still mainstream though..), few others it's just when cats think all that exists is Mainstream is when it's like yo.. LISTEN to me.

And the whole "famous" wear thing, if you wear it that's cool. It's just MOST cats out here jumped on it just like.. out of nowhere yo. Everyone and their mother got a shirt with the F on it and started dressing like exactly the same.. I just was thinking like damn.. if you gonna do that at least wear some other piece of clothing that's different.. The formula over where I live is: Black Famous shirt, "checkered" or "plaid" shorts, (not really sure of the design..), huge ass "stunna" shades, and some skater shoe/brand. No joke, it's the same for nearly every other person..

So I'll help them learn.. if they're ACTUALLY willing to learn. If they exhibit attitude of not wanting to learn.. then I ain't doing shit.

Nearly 80% are hypebeasts, think Famous is the shit, bapes, VANS OMFG fuck Vans. Especially the slip on ones, EVERYONE is on that hype, ever since that wack ass Pack song. Most if not all think Lil Wayne is better than anyone even if they haven't heard of 'em, they think if you do the soulja boy you can dance, and.. if you even mention "underground" or "breakdance" they're like "whaaaa?"
Pack song?

My school is odd.

Most people around here wear stuff everyone else wears. Females are females, they try on anything. However, the standard changes with each social group. Males tend to wear baggy jeans or plaid shorts with brand name shirts or pretty much anything that has fruity colors. They are also known to wear fitteds, but only out of school because of the dress code. If you're familiar with the store Against All Odds, then you know the deal. That applies to the people that "go hard", but there are always people just trying to wear what other people like, or what they think looks cool. Footwear includes but is not limited to: Nikes, Converses, Vans, Pumas,, and whatever the crazy fashion crap the ladies wear is. Ghetto folk also wear Jordans, Timberlands, and other "street" shit. The exclusive "white" wear is basically skater shoes, wack shit nobody liked since the 90's, or Nikes that aren't Air Forces or brightly colored.

The nerds, aka "average", people in my school usually listen to RnB (T Pain and Chris Brown) or anything with singing in it. The "normal" rock oriented white people listen to rock and metal. We have a fair share of emo people, but not a lot. There's a scarce amount of true skater-punk type dudes that I'm cool with for the most part, but I don't know everyone and I don't usually talk to them any more. They listen to shit like Van Halen, Pearl Jam, The Ramones, Johnny Cash, whatever as long is it has some quality to it. The majority of black people of course listen to Lil Wayne, some mainstream rap, and RnB. Honestly, Lil Wayne has so many people on his dick that he has become a genre. Latinos prefer mostly RnB and some rap, as well as Reggaeton, Bachata, etc. There are like 10 people that know about the underground, but I don't know everyone. The only people I know for sure are the heads I turned myself, which is at least 2 or 3 people. There are some people in my school that I refer to as "trail mix" that listen to rappers like Lil Wayne, Jay-Z, Cassidy, Jadakiss, Young Jeezy, Talib Kweli, Juelz Santana, whoever they think can rap. People that actually have a taste in music, but their taste is still imperfect. Lupe Fiasco is universal.

It's like people aren't clueless, they're just ignorant. A handful of people know about basic shit like Planet Rock, but they choose to listen to the hot shit. They kind of know about hip-hop, but they're like far off, you know? We have a dance team, but we're unappreciated. A lot of people have joined in the past few years, which I was mostly responsible for, but people still don't know shit about dancing. They think of dancing like whatever you see in a Missy Elliot video. There are also the girls that think they can dance better than anyone else. You know the kind. I caught shit (from a dude) for saying I could dance better than Chris Brown. Eww! I hate the situation. I won't say I hate them, because they're still my brothers and sisters and I have to look out for them. I just hate how they're making me work this hard. It's frustrating. It's a depressing environment, to say the least. Mad sexuality and nonsense all over the place. Bad decisions happening all the time. And with this new year starting, I'll have the privilege of watching a new batch of whores emerge from the freshmen. Not like any of them need any help converting, shit. Don't even get me started on our middle school, I might cry. Lol, just playing....... what? It's cold and flu season........

....I got that from the Fresh Prince.

^Mine's full of hypebeasts who don't know shit but think they do and white girls who love to do the Soulja Boy.

I mean there are a lot of people who are rockers and emo and scene and whatever other stereotypes you can think of, but VERY few hip hop heads.

I'll just start off by saying the majority rappers today have no intention of supporting hip-hop culture. If you don't support the culture, then you aren't really hip-hop.

There's taggers, but they know nothing of the other elements.

There's some bboys and all the black dudes are krumpers but these krumpers, again, don't know shit about real hip hop.

So it's basically me.

I wish my school had that many bboys...

The only dancers we have besides the small group of bboys are the krumpers and "buckers".

I have yet to find a true popper at my school.
