people don't understand form in excercises - 03-18-2006, 03:53 AM

I'm sure this has happened to anyone in a PE class or maybe they were like this in the past, but have you ever noticed people totally misjudge their strength etc by doign excercises wrong? Some classes at my school right now are doing pushup/crunch tests and i keep having people coming up to me taking about how much they can do a ton of some excercise. One said she was happy because did 80 crunches, but she said some teacher told her to stop because she wasn't doing them right but she didn't seem to care. Also some other people i know said they did 30 pushups, which is a lot compared to everyone else, and they've never done any excercise out of school. It's espcially annoying when people that do a sport do the excercise wrong, they should've learned some shit by now. Its really annoying when people said they can do so-and-so pushups when they do some stupid ass-high go halfway crap. But i've done this in the past probably haha, so i shouldn't be pissed.

I love clap pushups. Then for the two claps, my face always smashes into the ground.

i hate people that say they can heaps of crunches but are really fully sitting up and their chin touches their knees. it makes it heaps easier if ur not going halfway and holding it

I hit those many in 3rd Grade Bobble. They don't call me Cliche for nothing man; they're sick of seeing me do so many sit-ups.

Yea it can be a pain to listen to them say it. But it really doesn't matter what they do if you aren't involved. Now if it was a competition then you should bitch-slap those fools, then show them how to do it right. Just my two-cents.

Sleep, that is something that bothers me to no end. I'll see people stretching their hamstrings, they say, "I can pull my head all the way down to my leg," yet when they do it, they point their head down, which makes the exercise easy. You're supposed to keep your head up, looking forward, so that you won't run the risk of pulling your lower back badly. Also, keeping your head up changes the mechanics of the exercise, so that you have to stretch a lot more (the most flexible people can touch their chin to their toes with their leg straight).

Or when people are like, "I can do 50 pushups straight" and their "pushups" consist of them lowering halfway down, then rising up without locking their elbows. Same thing with pullups, people say they can do so-and-so amount of pullups, yet in their "pullups" they don't lower down all the way and they throw their weight into the exercise to use momentum to get back up. In dips too, people cheat, not lowering down or raising up enough.

Welcome to my world. I feel like beating people over the head with a barbell because when they bench they bounce off their chest or stop halfway. Then of course there is the pissing contest. "How much to you bench/deadlift/squat?" "Yea? Well I do 20lbs more" "Prove it? Nah man, I pulled my hamstring squatting 500lbs yesterday. You know how that is, right?"

I had one kid try that, and I offered to have him lift with me so I could see if he was BSing. Or rather just to put him in his place. We did a quick warmup and after I put up a workset of 5 reps I heard him say "I've hit this before... lemmie see if I can get three" He then proceeded to drop the weight on his chest because he couldn't even get one.

If you see someone BSing, call them out. It's more fun that way
