Beginners giving beginners tips without understanding what they are saying is probally one of the worst ways to spread KNOWLEDGE.....which is the key to anything in life.

it would be better to make a "martial arts thread" instead of just karate, cuz a thread with just karate wouldnt last long

yea, I kinda agree on the whole martial arts thread idea,

I do ninjitsu, and tae quon do, I have an underground teacher who teaches me my ninjitsu, so I learn a lot of random other stuff from him too. He's also a bboy.
I think martial arts is really really helpful in bboying, I don't have to do so much trial and error in learning my moves because I can understand the physics of my body better, I have a lot better balance than I used to, plus now I move faster, and I'm more physically fit. The most important thing I think I've learned so far towards my bgirling i would be flowing with motion that has already started, it gives off infinite energy and makes bgirling effortless (if I choose to be cohearant of course).
so how long have you been bboying for, and how long have you been in martial arts?

There's already a martial arts thread for talking about martial arts. This post is in the "General Discussion" section so it's fair game, and if it dies soon, let it.

Anyway, to answer the question, I took Isshinryu Karate for about 8 years.

I have experience in various martial arts such as traditional karate, various kung fu forms, judo ki, muay thai, and the philisophy of vale tudo and jeet kun do. My preffered practice is the dance of angola capoeira, regional capoeira, and carioca capoeira
