I'm writing a paper on Breaking, can I get some help? - 03-03-2006, 06:46 PM

Hey all!
I'm new in these forums and I was wondering if you guys can help me out. I'm interested in breaking and I'm writing about it in my english 102course.
My topic is breaking in the 70's and today.
What are the differences in moves back then than today?
Thanx.

Does anyone know if power moves were used more back then?
What's the diffences in the styles in the 70's from now?

read up on it and you'll find out.

but to save you some time...in a very simple response...power moves were slim to none. they were in the process of being pioneered at the time.the major difference in styles between the 70's and now is pretty simple...in the 70's bboyin focused more on footwork and actual dancing...these days the dance has a shift towards gymnastics and flashy powermoves, lots of blow ups, and as time went on footwork became much more complex, as did the freezes, which is why modern day floorwork can at times look very different from old school footwork.

spy was more the person innovating the footwork, what we do on the ground....powermoves were more from the west coast side when they started gettin big, when they were coming from the east coast the power was weak and there were OTHER people coming up with them, crazy legs got some credit but hes not as big on creating as others would be.

You need to get this dvd called the freshest kids. In most cases breaking came from the east and popping came from south central in the west. If am correct crazy legs started the whole swipe thing. But if you take a closer look most of the power moves in bboying are already in caporiea. Such as airlflares, windmills, and flares.

hey u should start where Bboyin originated........ or throw in how the Zulu religion that hip hop is the way of life led to breakin. People used to dance zulu like a capoeria or however u spell it and breakin combination but of course there werent any mills or anything thats just like dawn of time type stuff.
