What do YOU like about hip hop MOST? - 07-26-2005, 02:54 PM

It's simple: What do YOU like about hip hop in general the MOST?

To me there are many areas of hip hop that I believe take on new concepts and offer promising new contingencies to future generations. If I absolutely had to break it down to one aspect, I would personally say that the non-racialist atomosphere associated with true hip hop culture is the best part of it all in this day of age. Remember, this is a question of YOUR personal opinon.

of true hip hop? I'd say the lyrics, true hip hop has the art in its lyrics not some bullshit thrown into a good beat.

A mass of promises
Begin to rupture
Like the pockets
Of the new world kings
Like swollen stomachs
In Appalachia
Like the priests that fuck you
As they whisper holy things
A mass of tears have transformed to stones now
Sharpened on suffering
Woven into slings
Hope lies in the rubble of this rich fortress
Taking today what tomorrow never brings
This is the new sound
Just like the old sound
Just like the noose wound
Over new ground

SKILLS!!!

Only those with skill get props in real hip-hop. That's what I like.

BINGO
the creativity, and constant evolution....

thing i hate the most though is the negative affect the media puts on it....in all types of cultures there will be a bad side, the crappy thing is, hip hops bad side is increasingly being glamourized....

Lil_ breakz glad to see your back.

Anyway what I like most about hip-hop are the different arts within it.
Bboying
Graffiti
Emceeing
And Dj'ing

And the fact that you can express youself with each one of them

word. but i think the question was for hip hop as a whole, not just the music.

i'd say it's the individualism. everyone has their own different style for everything. love it.

I think thats a very good observation vp. If EVERYONE in the world had the mentality required to build a strong bboy foundation (as funny as that would be in some people), talent among people would only be recognized in those who had moves that were relevent to the individuals style or tastes or habits etc. I think thats where its all headed.

Edit:
I think cliche and zeke both kinda hinted on this one .....

The fact that it brings soooooooooooo many people together from all over everywhere. Its not just an american thing or a certain country thing. Its an oppurtunity for people to forget about race or background or whatever and just do what they love.

i like how hip hop is so controversial in this world.. it gives me a chuckle to know that hip hop has influenced many people around the globe, with each person having their own individual take on what hip hop truly is. i believe that there is no one style of hip hop; it is completely endless in possibilities, and that is what keeps fueling our love for hip hop.
