I feel you on the "insecure" statement. I came back here after a pretty hard time I had, some may know others may not.
First thing I got was 3 or so PM's telling me to watch were I'm posting and shit. I was like: "Woah" Is it that bad? Come on we all "spam". Most of the Mods do/have too, big fucking deal.
Regardless of that, I know some kids who left this site, because: "the community is dying". Kinda sad in my opinion, especially since they were some of the dopest heads on here. Kinda iffy to see the community die like this. And yes, I was kinda shocked when I heard who some of the people who were being threatened of bans are.
Props on speaking ya mind Roxy, don't see that often. I'll give you some more of my thoughts on this, but I have to take a piss like NOW! ><;;

Lolness @ Riff's "Piss" comment. LMFAO~*
Anyways, Yeah. The community is kinda dying. It's really sad to see that. -nodnod-
And I really don't have a thing against all mods. Eh, maybe I'm just having a bad day. PMS or something. I dunno. I just -had- to speak my tiny little mind.

Moderators were elected to do a certain job. If you feel you were mistreated by one, take it up with the admin.
If the admin doesn't care -- well I guess you're out of luck then. You'll just have to take it.
Judging by your post, i'd say they're doing they're job. You need to broaden your definition of what "spam" is. It's not your definition, but the moderators definition. Simple as that.

Sounds Like a Revolt is gonna happen XD Muhawa Im The Dorky Friend W00T xD
But yes what do you people think the mods should do? Just let you spam non-stop? And to be fair Roxanne does not really Spam, well she Spam relates to the thread and what not ugh.... I shut up now xD Shes kool like ice W00T
Ok Peeps use the SEARCH! Fuction before you make a thread.
COMMON WORDS TO SEARCH:
Junior, Im New, Im a Noob, Cardboard, Lino, How To BBOY, Krumping, C-Walking, DVD, Red Bull BC 1, Breakdancing, Flexibility, How to Headspin, How To Flare, BBOY Clothes, How to Windmill, How to Balance, Am I Gay?, Mike Garcia, BBOY Games, BBOYing Songs, Breakdance Music and ETC
P.S. Im The Search Nazi xD

umm... as said earlier, this is just the internet so let me suggest to half of you, go get a life. Also i don't think the mods shud be 'loose' cuz a lot of forums are just loaded with bullsh!t, waste people's time, and make browsing around harder. This is BBOY.ORG, not some forum open to anything. If u want to talk about bullsh!t, make a thread called bullsh!t and start with the bullsh!t, but otherwise all the people hating on the mods... sshhhhh

Good post Roxanne.
There's a few issues you've raised.
1> Locking/deleting threads. This is something I brought up in the Mod Forum. I don't think it's good to be heavy handed with this.
I personally will not lock a thread just because it annoys me, or because it's been discussed before.
I only lock a thread when it's become blatant insult throwing (very different to heated discussion) or the discussion is genuinely going nowhere and has become a dumping ground for idiotic statements and spam.
I only delete a thread if there is inappropriate stuff in it and there's too much to delete it post by post.
2> Abuse of power - I think on occation a mod may close a thread for personal reasons, Also being discussed in the Mod forum at the moment - basically I don't agree with it - it's not a forum to provide a place for me to talk about what i want - same goes for other mods. I'm not a mod so I can decide who posts and doesn't, or what is and isn't discussed. I'm a mod to make sure people don't abuse the site and make other people not want to post here anymore.
There are certain topics that are not acceptable and others that are borderline - and they will often be locked or deleted.
There is USUALLY a good reason if something is.
It IS possible to PM mods directly and ask why a thread was locked and have it re-opened if possible. Not always - but it has happened before.
3> "Watch where you post"
Some people are militant with this, others are less so. Basically the forums are there to seperate subject types to make the place easier to read.
(NOTE: In my experience it's usually non-moderators that will be agressive about this stuff - a Mod will usually just move it and leave you a note in the thread explaining why for future reference)
Sometimes a post in the wrong forum will be deleted, but usually only when there's a lot of it going on. Usually it will simply be moved to the right place.
I have no idea about what's gone on to bring this on but I think it's fair to say that most active mods I'm aware of do a good job.
On the subject of SPAM - there's a reason it's treated harshly.
Spam just adds loads of pointless mess into a thread. For the people who are active in that thread on a discussion level have then got to trawl through a load of pointless posts to find something worth reading. It's frustrating and in the past has caused some amazing bboys and bgirls to leave this site, taking with them all their experience, advice and knowledge.
As for SPAM threads - in the same way spam posts clutter a thread, spam threads clutter a forum. A while back you had to go through 2 full pages of new threads to find the ones you wanted to read. The mods then went hardcore at deleting spam to solve the problem and on the whole it worked.
When this happens the mods usually ease up until the problem kicks off again. Recently there has been a bit of cleansing going - but unfortunately it seems some mods may have been heavy handed in the wrong threads. Wether this is that case here or not I do not know.
Unfortunately in the course of moderating a forum there's always going to be times when you will upset someone who thought their posts shouldn't have been deleted for one reason or another. I for one try to avoid that as much as possible. In fact, some mods are pretty much anything goes up until a point - unless there's some serious breach of the rules they won't act.
Anyway I thought I'd adress the issues you've raised from a Mod's point of view (please bear in mind that for the first few years I used this forum I wasn't a mod at all - so I know where you're coming from aswell)
Hope this helps you some.

you make it sound like moderators are policemen in a facist regime or something out to get you and a few people on this site who you like. we're not policemen in a facist regime, there isn't a conspiracy against you and your internet friends, Tane isn't the father of Britney's baby and actually we're communists. served.
otherwise my comment is the following:
"OMGIMSODEPRESSED. NOONEUNDERSTANDSMEORWANTSTOLISTENTOME, IMSOANGRYSOIMGOINGTOCUTMYSELFAFTERILISTENTOTHENEWC OLDPLAYCD. IMEANITOLDTYLERIWOULDNTDOITAGAINBUTOMGOMGOMG!!!!11 111"
stiff you brought up a mod forum again. didn't we agree we wouldn't confuse people with that stuff again?
