Free MONEY!!!!!!!!!!!! - 07-13-2005, 12:24 AM

Anyone here have any experience with Scholarships?

It's the best way to go to college from what i've seen, and frankly it's free money for pete's sake!

I was wondering if anyone has had experience with them and had any tips. I'm poor but I do well in school I'd suppose. I'm now a senior in high school and figured I should get started on the post-secondary education process.

Check out Fastweb.com for a good start. Also, if you know where you want to go to college at check out their website, they should have a section on scholarships they offer. And DONT WAIT, I'm going to start college this fall and I didn't bother to apply for any scholarships, and now the deadlines for them are up (on most scholarships). Good Luck, hope this helps.

An Indian step, to a knee drop, to a six step, to a three step, to a baby freeze does not equal style, so don't diss power because you don't have any... They are both important.

Scholarships - 07-17-2005, 06:04 AM

Good job, considering making life easier for ur parents and urself.

Hmm. . .for scholarships that i applied to, i just went to the library and found a couple big books of nationwide and local scholarship programs. Judge the one's you apply for based on the requirements and money. Like there are many that are exclusive to a certain race or sex (which can be easily used to one's advantage). There are also a lot of highly uncompetitve one's but are only worth mabye a thou at most. Also for the big $$$, highly competitve ones, take the time to do the essay's and crap real well and hope u have the academics to bak it up

Just look carefully, and APPLY FOR A LOT OF THEM! i won ton's of money in small packets which helped a lot for books and other small tid bits. Plus it IS FREE $$$. . .

apply for every damn scholarship u hear about, read about, or see. there are soooooo many scholarships out there that nobody really knows about. ask around, keep applying, and good luck.

Think about it, you have writers learning the ins and outs of entire transport systems, risking serious injury even death, arrest and criminal records that would limit your opportunities for the rest of your life, for what? To simply paint a picture, does this seem logical to you? If the answer is no then it is most likely that you don’t fathom the idealism behind graffiti.

I didn't apply for any scholarships -- I was just a bit busy. However, I did receive $3,000 for doing well on this certain test that I can't really remember (it's been 3-4 years.)

I didn't get to use my money freely. They strictly monitored those $3,000 I received to make sure I was spending it only on school.

The money goes fast also -- college is damn expensive, so I don't believe you're going to have any extra money anyway (unless you get a full paid scholarship.)

And if you're looking for books to read (is that what you're asking for?) I'd recommend Catch-22 by Joseph Heller, A Farewell To Arms by Ernest Hemingway, and Slaughterhouse-Five by Kurt Vonnegut.

Pretty much my all time favorite books.

I'd also suggest choosing your college wisely. If you're hard working enough, you may have that option, otherwise you'll still be stuck with a bunch of morons like you were in High School. Visit campuses, check out the student's scene, meet some students and professors.
