Nike Rundown question - 03-22-2005, 05:30 PM

Last year from aug.21 to sept.5 Nike hosted the Nike Rundown in Canada to search for the fastest kid in Canada (35 metre SPRINT!!). I attended this event in Toronto. even though i was very close to qualifying i still had fun and made a couple of new friends. I was just wondering if anyone else had heard anything about this even or attended the event or even just know someone who went because i really want Nike to host it again this year now that im older and faster.

it didnt just have racing. it also had a breakdancing contest, PS2 station with a big screen TV, agility test, live DJing, and much more. the finals even had keshia chante performing live in toronto.
so you can see why i enjoyed the even and hoping if anyone knows if the even is happening this year

i went last year, qualified for the round of 16 for my city, but lost to some real track runner guy (i used to run track, not anymore)

lot of fun though...they had a live dj, PS2 on a big screen, a "graffiti wall" (i bombed the shit outta it with my real name, i was the only writer there)...it was pretty cool, but the lights were really distracting, same goes for the smoke

i highly suggest that you go if you have one in your city, you get a free t-shirt, and all the proceeds go to a good cause.

Think about it, you have writers learning the ins and outs of entire transport systems, risking serious injury even death, arrest and criminal records that would limit your opportunities for the rest of your life, for what? To simply paint a picture, does this seem logical to you? If the answer is no then it is most likely that you don’t fathom the idealism behind graffiti.
