Breaking moves, from advance to beginner -
05-02-2004, 05:00 AM
I'm new to the BBoyin world, and I was wondering which moves I should aim at learning first. If possible, it'd be great to learn the order you were learning your moves at.
P.S. I know Six Step (Mike Garcia version), Dirty Swipes, and a 2 hand Hand stand/L-Kick, working on mills.
P.S.S. Anyone know any underground moves? like... strictly original? I would like to see em, not learn em, just marvel at their obcenity
I'm 16
I'm 6'4"
I'm 170 Lbs.
I'm willing to try over and over again
I can't do Kip-Ups
what's a dirty swipe??search for the newbie guide where there is a list of what to learn.www.style2ouf.com
learn kip ups,headstand,turtle freeze(all stabbed freezes in fact),airbaby etc.pz
yeah def top rock and six step should be at the top of your list.. then what i'd say is probably tripod and just holding yourself in diff positions for periods of time.. then baby freeze and maybe handglides or something
in any case, one can greatly learn and improve with the how to breakdance dvd that this site provides.. it's f'n dope man, check it out fo real if ya really wanna learn
did he say mike garcia hahahahahahahahahaaaaaaaaaa dont learn from him realy that sets up up for bad techniques. if ur going to learn from dvd learn fromm bboy.orgs though i dont have it i seen alot of clips and its way better and more helpful then his
theres no reason for comming up short the ball is in your court so reach up and touch the sky
Toprock/Uprock,
6-Step-You got,
Baby freeze, Chair freeze, (just get some basic freezes)
Footwork, swipes, shuffles, coffe grinder,
Then just link those moves together and make combo's or set's.
Once you've got them, start to work on headspins, millz, 90's etc.
There are guides on this site to help you.

oh and for 6-step, keep practicing until you can do it fluently without rotating or doing any 90 degree turns.. try and do it so that you are facing the same position from start to finish..
CC's aren't that hard to pick up from there either
To tell you the truth if you ask this question, you'll preety much get the same response. Everyone is goin to tell you to work on ur basics....And that is true. Please make sure you learn all ur foundations before tryin new things...But if you got it, then it depends on you....For me I started basic and after I worked on style. I danced all the time, gettin into the rythm of my personality and character. Now I am a style head and a dancin machine...
But it's different for people. Some concentrate on dancin, footwork, power or whateva...Just do what you feel like doin and when you feel like your well rounded start puttin basic sets...like....... Basic rocks and then go into footwork and complete it with a ground freeze (or if you feel like your strong enough then try a pop up into a freeze or whatever) and bam...you got ur first set..Dont worry about complex stuff till you get ur basics first.
