religion is schools -
03-17-2004, 04:35 PM
well in montana lots of shit has happened,
and the latest idea is that in darby (a small close minded area) the school board members plan to teach the idea of creation in public shools,
FUCK THAT!
as you can tell i am not religious and also against the state paying for a school to teach creation in a biology class,
this idea is an insult and pisses me off,
sorry all,
but i just had to rant for a moment.
later,
ak

but buddy
creation is just that,
*they say god created the world and all it's creatures in 7 days
and by the way,
the big bang theory, is about the creation of the universe,
not about the creation and evolution of life on earth....
but you knew that.

so what ?
here in israel we learn bible from the 1st grade till 12ed and we can't get a diploma without passing that class .
who give a fuck ?
if you learn it , it doesn't mean you have to accept it .
frankly , bible lessons are a lot more interesting then biology .
and hey , i'm not religious or something , but maybe you're the close minded for not trying to see or listen to other ideas .

Even if you learned it to pass the class; in reality how much of your school work to you retain in your long term memory. Not to much at all, unless your becoming a preist or somthing no worries.

well in truth i am not close minded,
i have read the bible, the koran, and looked at many bhuddist beliefs,
but our american constitution states that there must be a seperation of church and state, and also there should be no state sponsord religion,
and the board members have only spoken of christianity,
what about the jewish beliefs, hindu, bhuddist,
they would never speak of reincarnation, so why creation

You have the grounds and the facts for an excellent debate. If you feel that strongly about it, bring it up to your school board.

well, one, you have to think about it...this country was built on God, so teaching about the true creation would be a benefit for us as a nation (and to shut up all of the arguing); two, other religions or beliefs are here because of the people who came from the land with the different belief

freedom of religion... if you are made to do something religous in a public school, when you don't want to, they are literally breaking the law. of this I am 90% certain.

the truth is that they should let religion back into schools, but i do feel that people don't have to participate if they don't want to (it is what they choose to do) in saying that if a group of people want to go outside of their school and pray before class starts, let them... they're not bothering anybody.

well of course they should be allowed to do such things if they wish, otherwise the school is... wait a second... it just occurred to me that if you're under 18 you don't have freedom of speech or expression at all. why should you have freedom of religion if you can't have the other freedoms... government is so hypocritical and stupid.

freedom of speech is more in the political field than anything, so blame politics for that
